NC State tough at home. Pitt usually tough. Louisville with Brohm on the road. Duke on the rise and Wake's Clawson is one of the best coaches in the country. Never a cake walk.
This is crazy. ND has a roster filled with elite talent at every position. Yet, teams like Pitt and Duke are considered tough games???

Yes, they are tough games for Pitt and Duke.

If ND plays their best and Duke plays their best then ND should win by at minimum 10 pts.

If.. Teams can come out flat. Freeman still has a lot to prove and so do some of the younger players. I always wonder how the Oakland A's win any games but they do.

Absolutely. But How often do
Teams play to their best? How often do teams play their best multiple weeks in a row?

Some of the greatest teams in college football history have had tough games against unranked teams. Happens every year

Yeah, I just don’t get it.

Teams like Duke and Pitt should be taken seriously. However, no way do I have any doubts about the outcome.

I stand by 9 games that “should” be locks.

3 that will be a concern

I would be shocked, if ND lost one of those 9 games.

It’s about where the teams finish.

Pitt, Duke, WF are average teams.
NCState??? Good, maybe???
Louisville nothing special
ND is more than capable of losing to any team on this schedule...save maybe one...maybe. The good old days of blowing out the underdogs are getting older.

On paper, yes those games are locks, but then the games have to actually be played.

I think we could have more blowout wins this year, though - because of Hartman. We finally have a QB who can sling it all over the field, which we haven't had in awhile.

It just depends if our receivers step up and there's somebody there to catch all those passes.

A team outside the top 25 should never be called a tough game.

Looking at a team’s record from the year before is not a great indicator of how good they will be this season.

You should first look at which players did they lose. Who is coming back???
Wtf are you talking about? That a team outside the top 25 shouldn’t be a tough game…

I believe it says a lot about the status of ND football when playing a team outside the top 25 is considered tough.

Teams are ranked and unranked for a reason.

ND should not lose to any team outside of the top 25. Could games be close? Of course they could be.
So….a close game as you describe above can’t be classified as a tough game?

How many "locks" did ND have in last year's regular season? 12 months ago, most would have predicted nine.

Locks ain't locks.

We start out at 13.

We play 7 teams that got votes for the top 25. 7 teams in the top 46 teams in the country

11 and 1 could get us to the Playoff with that tough schedule depending how things shake out
A flaw in the rankings is that they ignore the outcomes of head to head games.

ie. Ranking Michigan and Ohio State 2 and 3 or ranking Alabama and LSU 4 and 5 would have to presume that both contests result in ties as the loser in those games wouldn’t retain their ranking.

Most OSU fans are more concerned about the O-line. Day has a pretty good track record of developing QBs. If the O-line doesn't develop it doesn't matter if Justin Fields, Chris Stroud or Kyle McCord is taking the snaps. I expect an improved D this year with many returning starters and better depth.
Yeah, I'm reading the same on their sites and I really believe that the o-line will be fine but might take a few games to gel.

I still want to see their defense a few games before proclaiming them as better than the last few defensive units. Let's be honest, the OSU defense has collapsed in several games - especially late in big games - over the last 3 or 4 years. Georgia and Michigan weren't the only ones to drill them ---- several teams put up big yards and points on them from 2020 through 2022.

I’d say that an All-American player has a better chance of making it in the NFL than a player who isn’t named an All-American.

Please list ND’s NFL talent for me

Thanks
Hartman Estime Alt Fisher Mills Morrison Hart right off the top

Tobias Tyree Correll Botelho Baptiste Watts and others are guys that could be nfl guys

We do have a lot. More in the younger classes but still a lot

Yeah, I travel all around the Big Ten and Midwest boards and the one big unknown - especially in the Big ten - is if the OSU will be improved as some like to think. If they can field a really good defense for a change, they could be scary good as you can bet that they'll score a ton of points again this year. their stable of RBs (4 deep) and WRs are the best skilled position group in the country - especially those WRs.

With that said, a potentially outstanding ND offense versus the OSU who knows defense should be something to watch. That matchup should tell us a lot about both teams

Pitt has won 20 games in the last 2 years, they have more sacks in the last 5 years than any other program (Clemson, Bama and UGA are in the top 5) … if they get decent QB play to complement their strong run game they won’t be an easy out.

Alt and Morrison were already named.

None of the other players you listed appear on any All-American team lists that I’ve seen.

Could be ?

If they’re that good, then why haven’t they been selected to any All-American teams ?

48 players make all american teams.

250 players get drafted

Whats your point?

And not every all american makes the NFL. Remember Cain Madden

Again whats your point

104 players get named to four All-American teams.
11 on offense, 11 on defense and 4 special team players

Only a moron totally lacking in reading comprehension skills would ask, “what’s my point ?”

In order to help you out I’ll explain it to you.

Zorich claimed that we’re loaded with “NFL TALENT”, so I asked him to name that talent besides Alt and Morrison, then you chimed in and listed a number of names, none of whom appear on any All-American teams. If they had “NFL talent”, it would be easily recognized and they’d be on one of the All-American teams.

“NFL TALENT”, NOT college football talent !

If you still don’t understand that, have someone with a brain, someone knowledgeable about college football, explain it to you !

If they possess “NFL TALENT” why didn't they make any of the four All-American teams ?

“NFL TALENT“ would put a player head and shoulders above “College Football Talent”

So why aren’t they on any All-American teams if they have “NFL TALENT”

Sorry, I don’t know what you mean by All star teams???

There are more players in the NFL that never made the “All American” cut” than those that were AA.

Talent vs talent, ND has more talent than most teams they play.

Do we agree on that???? If not, find where teams like Duke, Pitt and NCSY finished in recruiting the past 3 seasons.

Who really knows how good they are until they play a couple games. More reason to delay this stupid ranking(popularity) contest until Oct
One of The problems I have with the rankings is that they don’t account for head to head games against similarly ranked teams

Let’s not change the subject.

I might agree that Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia might have an abundance of “NFL TALENT” I just don’t think that ND is at their level yet.

As to “TALENT” being the deciding factor in the outcome of the games you might want to see how Notre Dame and Ohio State fared against Ara Parseghian coached Norhwestern teams before claiming that “talent” alone will determine the outcome of the games. !

You're an idiot
