on here much much smarter than myself, so I ask this.

Is there truly an argument for UCF to be in the top 5 or 10 or even 15

Not a single game against top 25
Not a single game left to play is against a top 25
Sagarin SoS is 99
Offense #5 against who ?
Defense #34 against who (Aust Pea put up 33 on them)

I really do not see a single reason why they should be higher than they are. They will surely go undefeated, does that put them in the 1 or 2 spot ? I can not see them cracking top 5 even as an undefeated team

They will get the guaranteed NY6 bowl game for the the G5 highest ranked team. Nothing more, nothing less.

Do you really think the committee places any undefeated team 1 or 2?

The reality of your argument shows you are fairly smart and in comparison, the dearth of knowledge on this site is encyclopedic. Like the Irish, you're pretty well positioned.

Thank you! I was just really shocked with the amount of UCF fans that think they should be in the top 5. I thought i was just missing something

UCF is good enough to beat anyone in the Top 10 one time. But they would not be in a position to play those teams if they played the same schedule as ND, Georgia, Bama, Clemson etc.

I didn't read past your first point since it's not accurate. They beat #23 Memphis. If you're going to criticize a team, at least get your very first argument correct.

Top 5? No. Top 10? We'll see. Top 15? Yes. Right now they are.

How many top 25 wins does Wisconsin have? Miami? USC? Penn St? Auburn? MIss St? Virginia Tech? Washington? Oklahoma St? TCU? Ohio State? Oklahoma? Short answer for all of the above...1 or 0.

Not sure why you randomly decided to go after UCF, but Baylor made the mistake of underestimating them too in 2013. In fact, how many G5 teams have to whip P5 teams asses in BCS/CFP games before people drop the P5 bias? Boise St, Utah, TCU, UCF...all teams that beat P5 teams in big bowl games when they were G5.

Florida and Nebraska are falling over each other trying to hire Scott Frost because UCF is a nobody, right?

BTW, the overall Sagarin ratings have UCF #15, so to answer your original question, Jeff Sagarin can give you a bunch of statistical data why UCF deserves to be Top 15.

You took all of your data from Sagarin EXCEPT for the part that lists them #15. Jeez, talk about cherry picking.

Their average margin of victory is 31 points. They've only played 2 teams with a losing record. Opponents are a combined 29-26.

These guys are good and deserve to be in the Top 15.

I agree with your points, but just because a G5 team beats a P5 team every now and again, doesn't mean the G5 teams should be in the Playoff discussion. Traditionally, their competition in those lower conferences just isn't the greatest. Some teams (Utah, TCU) had to jump to a P5 conference in order to join the party. And to a point, they've thrived.

If UCF thinks they can CONSISTENTLY win games and recruit with the big boys, then they should make the jump to a P5 conference. They haven't done that for a reason.

Because Utah won a bowl game in 2012 doesn't mean UCF should be ranked in the top 5.

I’m not sure if you are joking or just don’t know how college football conferences work.

UCF has beaten the following Power 5 teams in the last few years. NC State, Maryland, Boston College, Penn State, Georgia and Baylor. So, before you jump on UCF for not being good enough get your facts straight. Most of those wins on the road.

Also, you do realize you can’t just join a Power 5 conference without being invited.

Their are very few UCF fans saying we deserve to be top 5. Top 15 yes. Possibly top ten if we win out. We are a fan base with realistic goals.

I apologize, they have not played any top 30 teams according to Sagarin. I did not randomly " go after " UCF. They are one of a handful of undefeated teams. I was just curious if I was missing a reason why fans were wanting them ranked higher. I did not mean to " cherry pick " either. The SoS is the worst in the top 30. I also never said Mr. Frost was a "nobody" or anything derogatory. All the teams you mentioned have a combined record of 18-16 against top 30. VT is 0-2 with Wash and UCF being the only teams to not have played a top 30. He has Memphis at 39. This is just Sagarin.

Now, you did not read past my first point, I understand that, as i did not state it was from Sagarin, and for that I was wrong and I apologize, but you did at least read the first line that said there are a ton of people much much smarter than myself. Obviously you are one of them. I did not bash them, nor say anything bad about them, that was not my intent. I also know that throughout history G5 teams have been exceptional. I was talking this year and this team.

That's why I said they'd be good, as in very competitive. ACC would be bad for them because they'd have to compete with the U and FSU for recruits. Being in the Big 12 would give them they're own identity.

I'd argue competing for recruits in the ACC would help them. They already have to do that, just without the ACC gravitas. That's why the get the in state leftovers, which are still really good. Being in the ACC puts them on a level playing field in terms of bowl games, access to the playoffs, money, etc.

UCF's campus is much nicer than FSU. Their campus culture is light years ahead of Miami. Their facilities are already better than both. PLUS, they are centrally located int he state, whereas, UM and FSU are at the far ends.

Give them the ACC schedule with big name opponents and the fans will fill that stadium.

That said, there is ZERO chance the ACC ever takes ANOTHER Florida team. They already have the Florida tv market.

UF will never allow them in the SEC for obvious reasons.

It's really Big 12 or bust.
