Biggest CFB disappointments/surprises thus far

Curious what everyone thinks on this topic.

Disappointments:

You’d have to start with FSU right, preseason top 10 (1-7). Okie St (3-5), Kansas (2-6) though I never bought their top 25 ranking to start the season. Probably throw in USC for sure, and Michigan.

Surprises:

I’ll start with Indiana, schedule is weak but what a turn around year one. Also, both Army and Navy, no one had them both with a chance to win 11 or more regular season games, and they’ve been dominant doing it (minus today for Navy). I’ll throw BYU in there too as many had them in the bottom half of the B12 rankings preseason.

Basketball WBB: Olivia Miles makes dazzling return in Notre Dame WBB's season-opening romp

Story by Bill Bilinski.

Bill, a retired longtime sports editor at the South Bend Tribune, will be helping us out again with game coverage in November and December in both men's and women's basketball. Tyler and I will still handle a lot of the news on those beats and recruiting. Then the two of us will get involved in game coverage once ND's postseason football run is over. Bill is a member of the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Hall of Fame.

ND Recruiting: 2025 class drops to 13th in the 247 composite after the Deuce Knight decommit

Yikes...

I dont know if ND brass got the memo yet, but this is the #1 area in the program with which needs improvement after 30 years of being irrelevant among the tier 1 of teams in college football.

Marcus Freeman classes so far:

2025 (partial): 13th
2024: 9th
2023: 12th

(Brian Kelly's last 3 classes for comparison)
2022: 7th
2021: 9th
2020: 18th

Yet somehow a narrative has been successfully spun that recruiting is better at ND under Marcus Freeman than what it was under MFs predecessor who is recruiting top 5 classes at LSU now lol smh
