One play that gave you chills?

So many great plays in that game -- Kyren's sprint to the house, JOK filching the pitch, Book firing that TD seed to AD. For me, the ultimate spine-tingler was that first sack on Clemson's final drive. (By Ade? My DVR glitched.) In another thread, Goat'sCornCob mentioned the next sack by Daelin. Yep, sensational, and I'd appreciate a photo of that, too. It nailed the door shut. But just speaking about personal thrill, when that first sack closed the door, and we all realized, "Holy shit, this thing's about to be baked," I haven't felt as much electricity on the back of my neck since cheta41 was a cub. An ND moment for the ages.

The results on the team have been excellent the past two weeks ... but concerns have arisen about the lack of social distancing by the student body when they stormed the field Saturday night in jubilation to celebrate the victory over previous No. 1 Clemson.

November 9: This Day In Notre Dame History

The Irish are 10-5-2, most recently a 38-7 win at Duke last year in which Ian Book joined the 100-100 club at QB by eclipsing 100 yards in a game in both passing and rushing.

Bronze Medal, 1968: Speaking of dual threats at QB, sophomore Joe Theismann made his starting debut in this 56-7 win at Pitt after Terry Hanratty suffered a season ending injury in practice that week. Theismann ran for two touchdowns in the first quarter and finished the game 7 of 10 for 153 yards — with two TD passes to halfback Coley O'Brien, a former QB who finished out the 1966 national title season when Hanratty was injured. O'Brien was shifted to make room for Theismann.

Silver Medal, 2002: Following a stunning loss at home to Boston College to drop from No. 4 to No. 9, Notre Dame rallies in the fourth quarter to defeat Navy, 30-23 to improve to 9-1. Carlyle Holiday passes 67 yards to Omar Jenkins for the winning touchdown with 2:08 remaining in the contest.

Gold Medal, 1946: Publicized as the original "Game of The Century" in Yankee Stadium, No. 1 Army, the two-time reigning national champ, and No. 2 Notre Dame, which would not lose from 1946-49, play to a scoreless tie, prompting the famous headline "Much Ado About Nothing-Nothing."
Head coach Frank Leahy eschews a field-goal attempt when the Irish drive inside the Army five-yard line, but Notre Dame fails to push it over. The game is remembered for what is considered the most famous tackle in history, 1947 Heisman winner John Lujack bringing down Heisman winner Doc Blanchard in the open field.
On the last day of the season, Notre Dame is moved ahead of Army to claim the national title this season.

Brian Kelly Named Dodd Trophy Coach Of The Week

Officials from the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl today announced that Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly has been selected as The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week.

The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week award honors a football coach who led his team to a significant victory during the previous week, while also embodying the award’s three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity.

No. 4 ranked Notre Dame upset No. 1 Clemson, 47-40, in a double-overtime thriller that ended the Tigers’ 36-game regular-season winning streak. The Irish led the Tigers for the majority of the game, until Clemson broke through to take a 33-26 lead. With 1:48 left on the clock.

The win represents Notre Dame’s first victory over a No. 1 team since 1993 and marks Notre Dame’s ninth win over an Associated Press No. 1, which is tied for the second most all-time.

“This was a historic win for the Irish football program that puts them right in the driver’s seat for the ACC Championship,” said Jim Terry, chairman of the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation. “Coach Kelly is a former Dodd Trophy winner, so it’s no surprise to us that he continues to put a well-coached team on the field each week and compete at the national level.”

Jay Bramblett Appreciation

I just want to give Jay Bramblett a shout out. He is racking up some key plays in his ND career. Remember the save on the bad snap last year against VT on the game winning PAT? The fake punt conversion earlier this year against DUKE? The open field tackle on Etienne on Saturday and the timely 54 yard punt in the 4th quarter on Saturday. Many times you never hear the punter/holder's name unless they make a mistake so I wanted to show him a little appreciation.

How to defend this maturing offense?

O-line is a wall. 2 TE’s making plays 5 to 10 yards out. Ben S. Is moving 50/50 balls to 70/30. Avery Davis makIng plays 20+ yards out and in the middle of the field. Kyren and Ian doing what they’re supposed to do. Rees introduced new structural wrinkles to the formations. So many dimensions to our offense, BC will have their hands full. Go Irish ☘️
