I was screaming from my living room "don't jump off sides, don't jump off sides."

Unfortunately, MTA could not hear hear me and he jumped off sides, and gave Clemson an automatic first down.

My question is this:

How many of you believe that Clemson was going to actually snap the ball and run a play right there?

Or do you believe that Clemson was never going to run a play right there, and just try to draw us off sides (which ultimately worked)?

The record is 17. Williams has 10 right now with probably 6 games to play. I say he does it.

Bronze Medal, 1973: Unbeaten (7-0) and No. 5-ranked Notre Dame travels to resurgent and No. 20 Pitt, led by freshman phenom running back Tony Dorsett and new head coach Johnny Majors. Ricky Watters rushes for 66- and 10-yard scores among his career high 174 yards on the ground, and Rocket Ismail awes the nation with his breathtaking "beyond SEC speed" to the edge on a 44-yard TD scamper that made the score 34-23 late in the contest. Gold Medal, 1928: On this day, Knute Rockne's famous "Win One For The Gipper" speech versus Army in Yankee Stadium becomes immortalized in Americana in the 12-6 win versus superpower and unbeaten Army, which had defeated the Irish 18-0 the year prior. Jack Chevigny dives over for the second-half score that ties it at 6-6. Late in the contest on fourth-and-long John Niemiec heaved a long pass to rangy Johnny "One Play" O'Brien, who crossed the end zone. The Irish then make a dramatic goal-line stand at the one-foot line to end the game.

Michigan could easily lose 3 more games the balance of the season Wisconsin, MD and OSU. Their current 2021 class is fertile ground to pick off talent.

*** We are 37 days away from National Signing Day, and the Fighting Irish have 18 commitments that I'm expecting to ink with Notre Dame on that day (not expecting DE David Abiara to sign with ND). This class was looking like it would be around 18 or 19 several months ago, but with some roster attrition and Abiara's likely departure, it has opened up more spots. Listen folks, I'm expecting a pretty fun ride down the stretch of this 2021 recruiting class. The Irish have some big battles it's in the mix for, could potentially flip some big names and more offers are likely to go out as well.

*** Notre Dame offered Oklahoma defensive line pledge Kelvin Gilliam a couple weeks ago. He hasn't posted about it publicly, but I reported the news to you guys about 15 minutes after the offer conversation between Gilliam and the Irish staff took place. Gilliam is definitely interested in the Irish, but the Irish have an uphill battle with the timing of the offer and the fact that his teammate is also committed to the Sooners. Gilliam has a big Zoom call tonight with the Notre Dame staff. Gilliam's family wants to know why he was offered late in the game, which the Irish will have an answer to -- they were full but had roster attrition and Abiara's situation occur.

*** Notre Dame sent out its first 2021 running back offer in several months today when it dished out the news to San Diego (Calif.) Morse's Byron Cardwell, the nation's No. 234 overall player. He has some fairly big offers, including Florida, Florida State, LSU and Michigan, but I wonder how many of those notable programs are still in play due to filling up. For example, Michigan already has a commitment at running back and is still in the mix for Donovan Edwards. Notre Dame got in contact with Cardwell about two weeks ago and should be a contender here. I should be catching up with Cardwell soon.

*** From what I've gathered, don't be surprised if Notre Dame offers Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph's running back Audric Estime, a Michigan State commitment. Rivals does not allow for us to put in FutureCast picks for prospects verballed elsewhere, but if the Irish do offer the Estime, who is ranked as the nation's No. 215 recruit, I'd project the Irish to flip him. I really like Estime as a prospect, and either he or Cardwell would be superb second backs in the class.

One more note... I'm likely making a new FutureCast pick for Notre Dame and will report on it in the morning if I indeed make that call.

I live in Omaha and work in Lincoln. I can’t think of a better time to throw gas on their fire of hatred for ND.

Anyone notice MTA lighting up DJ on the last play...the angle on tv didn't show much of it, but it looked like it could have been a roughing the passer. Holy hell if he would have been called for that...not sure what he was thinking.

Here's this week's Gold Standard, written by myself and Mason Plummer

Kelly has rubbed all of us the wrong way at different times during his tenure at Notre Dame. Whether it was certain questionable/terrible coaching hires, yelling at players or telling us we better get used to whatever questionable call he made. Some here have been harder on him than others. There is no doubt. But all of us have at the very least rubbed our heads at times.

He got a huge monkey off his back Saturday night though. He brought us to an undefeated regular season in year 3 and to play in a National Championship game. He has had a couple of 12 win seasons, an 11 win season and what looks like a 3rd 10 win season in 11 years. We made it to the playoffs. We haven't lost at home in years. We have the longest winning streak in the country at a pretty impressive 13 games. We've won 5 bowl games under Kelly. And Saturday night, he beat the #1 team in the country.

After what this University went through on the football field in the 15 years before he arrived, Brian Kelly has been pretty damn good as a coach for Our Lady's University and he has almost turned this thing around completely...almost. He still has work to do to finish the job, no doubt.

The next step is to beat Boston College and keep this going. If we win the National Championship, he will have done something few of us had thought possible and he will get a statue and be a legend at Notre Dame. If he doesn't, he won't get all that but he will be a College Hall of Famer as a coach. He has sealed that already in my opinion.

30-3 and 40-6 over the last 3/4 years respectively. 7-0 and #2 in the country this week coming off a victory over #1. Pretty damn good and I think Brian Kelly deserves some real respect.

Avery Davis: multiple position changes, keeps plugging, clutch catch and TD to send the game to OT.
Shaun Crawford: multiple injuries and positional changes: crucial pass breakup in double OT.
Jay Bramblett: reliable punter and a game saving tackle on Etienne.
Daelin Hayes: leader of the social justice movement on campus: epic sack in double OT.
Ian Book: this kid just continues to win, despite constant questioning of his skills and abilities. ND had no chance on Saturday without him.
Kyren Williams: what can you say, his pass protection and clutch running abilities have been so impressive. The growth he has made this year is nothing short of remarkable.
Tommy Tremble and Brock Wright: They do so much of the dirty work that makes this team go. LOVE these types of players!
Matt Salerno: Dependable and reliable in the punt game, very sure handed.
Jonathan Doerer: Huge shoes to fill in replacing Justin Yoon. ND doesn't win Saturday without his clutch kicking.
Kurt Hinish: blue collar, heart and soul of the interior of the defense. He doesn't get enough credit for how many plays he impacts.
Entire OL: poised, disciplined, synergy is so impressive!
Javon McKinley: another player that has had to persevere, he moves the chains and his deep catch was so crucial!
Ade Ogundeji: overshadowed in his career by Okwara, Hayes and Kareem. His sack in OT set up the win.
Entire coaching staff: ND was ready to play and didn't flinch when Clemson made it's push in the second half.
The Spirt of ND: strong of heart, true to her name. What though the odds be great or small, old Notre Dame will win overall. While her loyal sons are marching onward to victory!

I know I've left out important contributors and likely left out important back stories of players' time at ND. Please do help me fill in the gaps if you wish. What an incredible Saturday night, we are ND! Go Irish, Beat Eagles!!

Two positives tests over the last week (Tuesday-Sunday) and two others identified as close contacts, team says. None of those four were in attendance Saturday.

Those are the only four players in COVID-19 protocols.

Notre Dame has offered Rivals250 RB Byron Cardwell out of San Diego. Florida, FSU, LSU, Michigan some of his other offers.

Notre Dame started reaching out to Cardwell a couple weeks ago. Looks like the Irish will take a second back in the class.

Many were NOT happy with the class, especially since they signed while ND was about to play in the CFP.
I distinctly remember people being mad about ND losing out on that Turner kid to Washington while Foskey was publicly announcing in February that nobody seemed to be excited about?

Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Coach Muffet McGraw is joining ACC Network (ACCN), the 24/7 national platform dedicated to ACC sports, as a women’s basketball studio analyst contributing to coverage on All ACC and Nothing But Net throughout the college basketball season.

McGraw will make her ACCN debut as part the network’s ACC Women’s Basketball Tipoff and Operation Basketball programming Wednesday, Nov. 11 and Thursday, Nov. 12, beginning at 5 p.m. ET each evening.

“Muffet McGraw is on the Mount Rushmore of women’s college basketball coaches and we are elated to have her join ACC Network. Along with her hall of fame pedigree Coach McGraw will bring to our studio shows informed perspective, in depth analysis, and insight that transcends beyond the court,” said ACCN coordinating producer Aaron Katzman.

McGraw, who retired from coaching on April 22, 2022 after 33 seasons at Notre Dame, amassed 936 career victories, won two NCAA titles in 2001 and 2018, made nine trips to the Final Four and collected consensus national coach of the year honors three times throughout her decorated career.

Present day, McGraw continues to be active in the South Bend, Ind., community organizing food drives throughout the area, and is also a professor in Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, teaching Sports Leadership: How Leaders Make Teams Flourish.
