Any word on the status of Liatu King?

I did not get to watch ND's game against Lafayette this afternoon, but I saw in the box score that Liatu King did not play. I know that she hit her head on the floor - and had to come out of the game - during the previous game v. James Madison. During the telecast today, was anything said about her status? Or did Niele address her status in her post-game press conference? ☘️ 🏀☘️

Special: Army-Navy 2024 premium forum

With Notre Dame playing against Army this week, I wanted to share with you a new feature that Rivals is trying out this season.

Rivals launched a brand new forum dedicated to the Army-Navy game, which will be played this year on Dec. 14. This forum is only accessible to Rivals All-Access Pass holders as well as all Army and Navy team site subscribers. It also gives access to special events like this Army-Navy forum, and is available to both monthly and annual subscribers as an add-on to your current subscription.

Basketball WBB: Honors/Awards Tracker for 2024-25 season | Kate Koval named national Freshman of the Week

There's going to be plenty of watch lists, weekly honors and award mentions for Notre Dame women's basketball this season, so we're going to keep it all in one thread. We'll update this thread as we learn of them.

What we've already reported ...

Hannah Hidalgo was named ACC Preseason Player of the Year
Hannah Hidalgo, Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron were named to the Preseason All-ACC Team
Kate Koval and Liza Karlen were named to the ACC Newcomer Watch List

Hannah Hidalgo was named to the Associated Press Preseason All-America team:

WSOC: Thread for 2024 season of Notre Dame women's soccer

Trying out something new here. We can't cover all of Notre Dame's athletic programs closely, but we want to have a space for our subscribers to talk about them if they're interested in doing so with other fans of the program.

So I'm setting up this thread for anything related to the 2024 season for Notre Dame women's soccer, which gets underway tonight with a game against Michigan State. The Irish entered the season ranked No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches poll. Michigan State is ranked No. 13.

Notre Dame was picked to finished third in the ACC in its preseason poll. And junior midfielder Leah Klenke was selected to the preseason All-ACC team.

MSOC: Thread for 2024 season of Notre Dame men's soccer

This drew some interest when I did the same for women's soccer, so I'm starting up a running thread for anything related to the 2024 season for Notre Dame men's soccer. The idea is to have threads like this for some of the Notre Dame athletic programs that we don't cover as closely.

The Notre Dame men's soccer team will start the season tonight with a home game against Akron. The Irish entered the season ranked No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches poll after a 13-3-6 season last year that ended with a loss to Clemson in the NCAA Tournament final.

Clemson is ranked No. 1 to start the season. Eight other ACC teams are also in the top 25: No. 5 Stanford, No. 6 North Carolina, No. 10 SMU, No. 13 Virginia, No. 15 Wake Forest, No. 20 Duke, No. 24 Louisville and No. 25 Syracuse.

Notre Dame was picked to finish second in the ACC in its preseason poll. Senior midfielder Bryce Boneau was selected to the preseason All-ACC team.

HKY: Thread for 2024-25 season of Notre Dame hockey

Let's use this thread for anything related to the 2024-25 season for Notre Dame hockey, which got underway this weekend.

Notre Dame was picked to finish fifth in its conference via the Big Ten Hockey Coaches Preseason Poll in the final season for Notre Dame head coach Jeff Jackson. The Irish weren't represented by a player on the two Preseason All-Big Ten teams. Ohio State was the only other program with no preseason all-conference players.

Notre Dame was ranked No. 19 in the country in the first U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) poll of the season. It dropped to No. 20 in the first update with games played elsewhere before Notre Dame started its season.

Recruiting Notre Dame RB recruit Justin Thurman flips commitment to Kansas

This has been rattling around for a bit and Notre Dame is fine with this. The Irish won't be looking to add a second running back in the 2025 class.

Reporting of student-athlete injuries

For context:

The NCAA has not issued a mandate requiring “official injury reports” and they have deferred those decisions to each conference and colleges/universities.

Currently, only the SEC requires football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball coaches to give an “official team injury report”. Prior to the 2019 season, the ACC required football injury reports to be disclosed on Thursdays before each conference game.

Many sports betting agencies and state gaming officials have pushed for mandatory injury reports to avoid potential betting irregularities based on potential “insider” information. The former Alabama baseball coach did this very thing, when he had a friend place a bet prior to him scratching his starting pitcher. The NCAA released the following statement after their investigation into that situation:

"Coaches, student-athletes and administrators have access to information deemed valuable to those involved in betting. Improperly sharing that information for purposes of sports betting cuts to the heart of the honesty and sportsmanship we expect of our members and is particularly egregious when shared by those who have the ability to influence the outcome of games."

At ND, Coach Freeman gives an injury status update during his Monday press conferences, but Coach Ivey is often silent on the status of her players. For example - shortly after the injury to Miles in March 2023, Coach Ivey stated the exact nature of her knee injury is "undisclosed for her privacy."

The questions:

Should the NCAA require colleges/coaches to make “official injury reports” each week during the season? Example: every Thursday during the football season and every Tuesday for all other sports.

Should each college sport have the same requirement in reporting?

Should every student-athlete have to sign a “release form” as part of their scholarship?
