He can't throw. Saturday was incredibly ugly. It was stunning to watch. That 2nd INT.....not even sure what to say. That moment may have been the most dejected I've ever been watching an ND game. What a sobering instance.Stop it. Per many posters on this forum Leonard has all the tools and skills. He's a projected 1st round pick. 😂
Freeman just said in his PC that they didn't get OLine holding corrected from week 1 to week 2 in practice, and they went back and realized they need to get these corrected in practice, and if they see it in practice keep coaching until its right. Why is it poor coaching ? If anything it's lazy technique. Craig knows the rules. No one is teaching it that way. Your arguments are nonsensical and suggest coaching is the sole reason they lost. I absolutely guarantee the staff coached last week the exact same way they coached prior to the opener. Programs at the highest level are incredibly structured. Routine is paramount. It's a highly regarded and respected staff. They didn't forget what got them there. They had stinker. It happens.
I think NIU's better than people realized. They returned 18 starters. Nevertheless, we should've won. If we'd just run the ball more, we probably would've. This team's better at running the ball than passing, with Leonard at QB. So if he's the QB, just run the RPO most of the time. That's what he's good at. I'd like to see us run the ball 40+ times a game, personally. We marched down the field due to Riley running the ball. We didn't come close to scoring at all again first half when he didn't run much.
If we need to have the QB running like crazy to score vs NIU, we have the wrong QB and the coaches did a terrible job.
Defense had no clue their first drive how to defend the RB splitting out, 83 yd td. That's not being prepared, they split brown out a bunch early first game. KVA all game was in coverage on him, moronic. That's not being prepared.
It didn’t look like a sound defense to me after the shift. That’s a big one that probably shouldn’t have happened.I'm just going by the fact you don't have KVA or Bowen on the RB when split out in coverage EVER when 3 LBS on the field with no one in the backfield. It happened twice for 125 yds.
Either blown coverage or terrible scheme. For it to happen once let alone twice. Something bad happened both plays, coaching or bust, and bust involves coaching since it happened twice.
AgreeIf he was injured, he had no business playing. Especially after seeing that the kid couldn't throw the ball
Yes, Hartman, Angeli, MInchey, Carr, even Buchner could've made the throw. I don't mean they would've completed the pass. I think they all could've thrown higher and farther than Leonard. That might've been a good call if Hartman had been the QB. He was a good deep ball thrower. But unfortunately, Leonard isn't. But all 3 of our backups are probably better than Leonard at making that throw as well.
So we need to either tailor the offense to Leonard's skills, or put a different QB in. Leonard isn't a good fit for the offense we ran Saturday. He's not a dropback passer.
