His coaches supported his decision. I supported it also . He didn't let me down as he didn't owe me anything. And bad for his team, his coaches, his fellow students and Notre Dame football fans
You know when I got sent to Afghanistan I was already 20(+)years in and it never occurred to me to tell the CO you know this could impact my financial futureI don't believe that at all.
Doesn't mean anything. How does your best friend Saban think about guys quitting on their team?I'm not. I'm a representative for a firm that does NIL consulting. I've been on more than 2 dozen college campuses meeting with administrators, coaches and some players. I've also had meetings with 3 conference commissioners at their headquarters. I think I've got a pretty good feel on the current landscape.
Why do you care that I care? See how we could do that? He's the boss. His choice. Why do you care ?
Whatever.Nice dodge BTW I never brought up Alt
And bad for his team, his coaches, his fellow students and Notre Dame football fansJoe Alt skipped the bowl last year.
And good for him.

Do you want to rethink that?Props to Cam Ward for finishing out the season with his teammates! Refreshing
Nice dodge BTW I never brought up AltWhy anyone would talk shit about a Joe Alt skipping the Sun Bowl to protect his financial future is beyond me.
Well said. Why are you dealing with it.
It's not a premium board, so why are you overmodearating it and worrying about it
Do you fault Joe Alt for skipping the Sun Bowl last season?Sorry to burst your bubble, but High School kids are now getting NIL deals and hiring agents.

I just hope that money is being put to good use and kids are responsible with that amount of money that early in their lives.Sorry to burst your bubble, but High School kids are now getting NIL deals and hiring agents.

And as I told sjb in another thread. I'm a former college coach and currently a college professor and counselor. The selfishness of every generation born after 1984 is just getting worse. Very good book called Generation Me on this topic. I see the benefit for the individual from a financial perspective, yes. But I don't see this as a benefit for building character, integrity, etc. And as a result, I think we're just going to see a society be less and less mindful of others and focused on what they're needs are.And now it builds selfishness, and greed
A weaker DLine that struggles to put pressure on the QB, puts more pressure on the LB’s and DB’s.Do these practice reports say anything about Rocco, or in his absence, who is manning RG?
I don't believe that at all.And now it builds selfishness, and greed
Why anyone would talk shit about a Joe Alt skipping the Sun Bowl to protect his financial future is beyond me.One more time ... I grew up watching college players finish what they've started and still made millions in the NFL. So what's the difference between then and now?
Risk vs reward with nothing at stake. Fans get emotional and believe they would do the " honorable " thing in the same situation. Easy to say when that scenario will never present itself. Take the emotion out of it.Irrespective of how many advisors they have and irrespective of the familial relationships influencing them, there is no other way to describe it other than quitting on their team
Sorry to burst your bubble, but High School kids are now getting NIL deals and hiring agents. If it ain't no thing then why participate in this discussion?
I am worried about it because the game I knew and loved growing up is no longer the same. And I worry about how this affects kids across America when they see this. Maybe it's silly of me to do that, but I'm doing it anyway.
And now it builds selfishness, and greedI will admit I'm very emotional about this. I believe playing sports builds strengths, character, identity, sense of belonging, understanding of sacrifice, and betters you if you're able to come together and achieve things you didn't know were possible. When guys opt out, that opportunity is taken away. Kelly's first year at ND they were 4-5 and finished 8-5 with indeed a crappy bowl appearance in El Paso. But my point is, the feeling I got from seeing that team go 4-5 and finish the way they did, everyone on that team was better for it. I was proud of them for it. Again, am I emotional about it? Yes! So maybe I'm wrong for this because but I want to see more teams do this for both themselves and each other. I want this seen as an example for kids across America. Is this silly of me? Maybe so. I'll own that.
One more time ... I grew up watching college players finish what they've started and still made millions in the NFL. So what's the difference between then and now? You’re full of shit.
It ain’t your financial future so why give a shit, right?
Dumb, even for you. You think you know so much about the workings of the game but yet with every post you clearly indicate that's just not the case. Being a backyard All American has given you an extremely cloudy vision of the realities of major college football and how it operates. Why not do away with all football games during the season that doesn't have an impact on the playoff? Where does it stop
If Michigan is 6 and 5 next year and OSU is 7 and 4 shouldn't they just cancel the game? No impact on the playoff. We don't want anyone to get hurt now do we
I mean any team that is out of contention should cancel the year as quickly as possible
