Can we talk about the effin refs?

That's the big conspiracy theory CFB fans are currently muling on. The evil marriage between ESPN and the SEC, and all the corrupt dealings that might come of it. Shit like this does happen. They had huge match fixing scandals in European soccer, with top, prestigious clubs incriminated and convicted. I don't even know how you throw a soccer game. I guess award constant penalty kicks.

Anyway, my spidey sense was just going off. Something didn't feel right. Too many in a row, too dubious that they were actual penalties, and every one pretty distinctively helpful to the cause for UGA. But UGA couldn't capitalize, because they sucked, and we rocked 'em!
A ton of money for ESPN if the SEC wins.....not so much for ND, Boise or others

When you finish regular seasons undefeated and make 2 or 4 team playoffs on three separate occasions you are more than good. All 3 seasons were damn good accomplishments.

I’m not certain Notre Dame gets in a 4 team playoff this season.
Who fvcking cares what the talking heads, and you think? This team has emphatically proven they are one of the four best teams.

Stick to HS girls track

Because there was a string of calls there, when the game was still very much in doubt and UGA could really use a favorable call, where it was just like, is this for real? Like three or four in a row, that straight up did not look like penalties, all negating very much positive developments for ND. I am not a conspiracy theorist, and I have to fight the inclination to condescend to people who talk like that, but holy shit! Even the first down by Faison when it was pretty much done with under four minutes. But out comes the flag again! This time for some sort of obscure illegal shift, and now it's 4th down.

I got this on the brain on account of yesterday's targeting non call was just so unbelievable. Anyway, it was noteworthy to me and super noticeable.
We deserved a few, but 2 of the PI's were BS. The missed Facemask. Multiple holds on our pass rushers. The Faison moving. The missed PI on them on that 3rd and 7. We might have got away with one on the 4th down fake punt. I dont think it evened out and it did keep GA on / off the field too many times.

You can sub all 11 players before the ball is put in play -- the ball is determined to be "put in play" when the center puts his hands on the ball. If you watch the replay, the long snapper never puts his hands on the ball -- thus, the ball has not been "put in play". That was the key to that play.
Thanks for the clarification! Kirby crying saying SEC officials said it was illegal.....well no shit! Screw the SEC

And he pissed the bed in all of those chances. ND might’ve been “good “ under Kelly, but they were never great. That’s his fault based on the current evidence

Monroe Freeling - a recruiting story

We don’t get every big recruit we go after and Freeling, a highly prized tackle was one of our recruiting losses that stung a couple years ago. ND, known for our offensive line, got some other players who did not seem to be as good. But we continue to pick the right guys for our program.

Guys that develop into elite talent and fit our culture. Freeling got totally exposed last nite. Embarrassed on an island for all to see by Oben, Sneed, Ausberry. Hinesh, cross, Rubio and Junior T

So true. So true. Good post Skibro!

Brian Kelly never played in a 12 game playoff at Notre Dame. His three Playoff appearances, all undefeated regular seasons, were a Final in 2012, and semi finals in 2018 and 2020.

Well I like to think that CFB will go to a full professional style, pro-standard revenue split, and will become, not a minor league sport, but a full on major league pro sport, which it always has been. The only way one could ever characterize it otherwise, is to cite the deliberate phony fiction of 'amateurism', which is bullshit, and is being legally and structurally dismantled, with the evil NCAA fighting it every step of the way, including this last ditch effort to get a antitrust exemption, I think, but maybe they've set theirs sights lower than that, I'm not a lawyer. An antitrust exception being a thing, a little legal creation where you get to break the law with the govt.'s special permission. Which the NCAA is quite okay with, being the criminal scumbags they are.

In any case, in that event, that of full professionalization, maybe it's not inevitable that ND will have to join a conference. There's so many unknowns, but all of those unknowns usually include super league scenarios. Especially considering the absolute shitshow of conference realignment, driven solely by economics. So it's not really the professionalization of players and their income considerations that will drive the change, it's the schools themselves, and their desire to make so much more, by having only like 40 teams, divvy up all the real money. But there's a lot of tradition in CFB so it's a touchy area. Who does and doesn't get to make that final cut. But ND certainly will, and finally they will be part of a football league, no longer unaffiliated and 'independent', and much to their chagrin!

BK made it to the championship game once, and the semifinals twice, so MF has a lot of catching up to do, he hasn't shattered anything.

After BK handed him, nay gifted him, an already annually playoff contending program, with which MF took the obligatory couple steps back first before returning us to where we already were before.

STFU. He’s 38 and a much better coach now than Kelly ever dreamed to be. Kelly handed him a team, that even he, didn’t think was Championship worthy. Fvck you a fvck Kelly.

ND payout

Can you repeat the question, please? And you should heed my words about ND's future, or really CFB's future. Revenue sharing starts next year, and a super league is not far behind. The writing is scrawled all over the wall, sir. But you ain't listening, you never do....
It's the Thursday night and Book v. Leonard thread. You know what the questions are.

Heed YOUR words? 😆 please...

"returning us to where we were before"

Tell me when did ND win a Major Bowl game or a post season game of significance under Brian Kelly?

ND had 2 at bats against Alabama BSCG & CFP, and 2 at bats against Clemson ACCCG and CFP.. Brian Kelly was 0-4 and ND was outscored 137 to 41 in those game. Not one game was even remotely close or competetive.
