Whether or not ND deserves to be #3 or #4 , it's hard to jump another team that is also winning. Yes, PSU struggled against Minnesota, but they still won on the road. Add in the fact that the 12 team playoff is skewed to prop up the two super conferences, I can't see the playoff committee having ND jump PSU..

Claim all you want that ND beat a #19 Army, but Army did not deserve that ranking just like IU did not deserve their high ranking. The committee clearly doesn't weigh schedule strength in their rankings even though they are supposed to.
If we beat SC, we will have the same record and 2 common opponents

We beat Purdue by 59. Psu beat Purdue by 39

Advantage ND

PSU beat SC by 3 in overtime. If we handle business we will have the advantage there as well

At that point, there is no logical reason to have psu above ND. How you are playing and look on the field has to matter

For those that complain about ND not being in a conference...

Exciting; meaning that a team isn't winning convincingly?
No, dude. We just mean exciting, you know exactly what the F I mean. No one's complaining, we're about to hose a 1st round playoff game. But it's been boring. Spectator sports are called that for a reason, because they're supposed to be fun to watch, not just to live vicariously through. And ND has been good for the latter this year, not so much the former. And if we were in the SEC, for example, we would not have seasons like this. It would be more of a fight, with more exciting games. Even Bama at their most dominant had to struggle at times against various conference opponents, like Auburn or LSU or A&M, and so they were truly dominant champions when they finally won it, and the fans got a few adrenalin rushes along the way. And probably why ND got their ass kicked by Bama and Clemson when we played them.

Hopefully not this year, this team looks legit formidable, and there's no dominant Bama or UGA type team that we can't hope to beat. Clemson sucks now, and we almost beat tOSU anyway a year ago. So we are dark horses!

Who should be #4 then ? I think ND could easily be # 3. Texas has their best win at Vanderbilt.

“Says you. I watch a lot of football. My eyes tell me different. I think LSU is much better than USC. I think Ole Miss, A&M, Bama, South Carolina, Georgia, are all better than Penn St. I'm a football fan who calls it how I see it. Not sure how I'm a SEC honk. I was a huge Bama fan when coach was there. No longer.”

I watch a lot of football too & you saying that you think lsu is way better than usc is one of the dumber things I’ve heard on here. You sound like chase citing pff. It’s a ridiculous argument.

Watching PSU, Bama and UTn....I dont see them being favored over ND....its a "Pick'em" based on where they play.....Oregon isnt exactly blowing people out, they got lucky against Wisky that got blown out by Nebraska. UGA's QB is inconsistent, and TX lost badly the only talented team they have played to date.

ND is a top 5 when RL is on......When he hits open receivers and you cant stack the box we will be tough to beat. You have to hope for a bad day because our defense will give him numerous chances. I like where we are, doesnt matter if we are 1 or 5......But, if you were really ranking them it would be Oregon, OSU, TX and ND.......those teams are passing the eye test.

I'm not so granular after those top 4 who more clearly deserve the ranking.

After that it is a dogfight. Let it be decided in the playoffs. Win for all concerned.

Kicking

It’s the entire operation… the one kick was a terrible kick, the blocked one was a terrible operation where the line just stayed heads down with no blocking
I think every post from yesterday and today has been negative. You seriously can't find one positive thing to say about ND?

I mean your whipping boys Junior and Hinish are actually playing really good ball. Way better players than you have them credit for. And the head coach who you wanted out is 1 win away from the Playoff.

Random thoughts

A&M on the road ND only top 10 to win at College station in the past 5 years SEC is 0-6 Quality Win

Lville 3 of 4 losses were to top 10 teams all by 1 score ND, Miami SMU (Stanford was a stinker) quality win
Ga Tech 7-4 beat Miami Quality Win

Navy came in 7-0 with a healthy QB while their schedule was easy they were dominating opp's & beat Mempis by double digits who is 9-2. Blowout victory Quality Win

Army was 9-0 had a week off, everything to gain nothing to lose. Their biggest game in 80 years and we blew the doors off them Quality win

Stanford 49-7, FSU 52-3 Purdue 66-7 all bad teams but we beat them in blowout style.

Virginia 35 -7 (14 with garbage td) & Miami Oh who is leading the MAC 28-3 not great teams but games were close.

Marcus Freeman Has This Team Playing Hard

There is no question that the NIU loss was a bad one and should have never happened, but since that game Freeman has had the team focused and prepared every week. Games against option teams like Navy and Army used to always leave me feeling uneasy going into the game, but this year we destroyed Navy and Army in both of those games. Yesterday's game against Army was a clinic in how to defend the option. Before the game the sideline reporter asked Marcus Freeman what he wanted to see in the game and he gave a one-word answer: "Violence." That is exactly what we saw. The D hit hard and often last night. It was fun to watch. I expect Bryson Daily will be feeling the lumps from the beating he took all week.

I feel like we are starting to see Marcus Freeman really hit his stride. After the NIU game there were calls to fire him by some on this board. Those wild arguments haven't aged very well.

There were also many on this board who thought ND made a big mistake hiring MF over Luke Fickell. ND now sits at 10-1 and Wisky is at 5-6. I was confident then we hired the right coach, and feel even stronger about that opinion now.

Let's keep the train rolling next week against USC.
When ND lost to NIU, I was dumbfounded. Thought Freeman had learned from the Marshall loss. But it appears he's really learned from the loss and both he and the team have matured as a result. Excited to see them crush SC and see what they do in the playoffs.

“The SEC is full of many quality teams. I think if you take out OSU and Oregon there are 6-8 teams from the SEC that are way better than anyone else in the BIG 10. Incredibly deep this year pretty much top to bottom.”

Nonsense.

“way better”? You’ve always been an sec honk but give me a break. Besides, what kind of comparison is that? Take the two top teams in the sec out of the equation, you’re saying there’s 4-6 teams left that are “way better” than the big 10 sans osu & oregon? Is lsu better than usc in your scenario? They’re a very average conference this year and the results prove that.

The margin is tighter. I still give the SEC the edge. I skim a few games during enough Saturdays. The SEC is still good. Period.

For the 1st time in years, they're indeed being challenged as top 4...Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas is non-traditional SEC. Bulldogs might be in there, but even they aren't peak SEC.

Anybody would be as challenged in their league with that schedule.

Uhhhh.....USC beat LSU head to head

But of course, much better

No bias here at all
