Notre Dame has been mentioned about 20 times the last three weeks in the NIU games.

@savvyandsassier I thought NIU played very well in that game. They were the better team. Like the 95 yard TD pass. That was a great job by the QB delivering a perfect pass with Mills barreling down on him. Got everybody blocked up in the run game. The QB made other good throws. High level football IMO. They played good defense too.
I don't know, I"m sure they did play well, for them. I just mean they didn't seem that formidable. This isn't some badass team that's going to tear up the MAC, and challenge for the G5 playoff spot or anything like that. The whole game was slow and labored, and even though we have a great defense, they were unthreatening on offense, and just slow and plodding overall. And sure enough, they got their little FG at the end to pull ahead and get the win. Good for them.

Bottom line, I suppose it was a letdown after the offseason-long buildup to the big game at Kyle Field. And our offense was finding itself, so it was just one of those things. And NIU stepped up. But to our great credit, we totally bounced back, took away the right lesson, and now pretty much are steamrolling our way into the playoff, with two legit opponents remaining, but we should be alright, we'll handle them. And I think it's possible to think of it as at least both a blessing and a curse. Obviously you don't want to lose to MAC teams, but we got our act together, and if MF really has been invoking it, what better way to totally motivate you for the rest of the season. So at the end of the day I'll take it. This has been a very good season. The games aren't competitive, and we are fairly dominant. I honestly think we could be a dark horse in the playoff. Knock on wood.

Army Prediction Thread

Trying to get some more action on it. There’s like three people that predict. Plus I wanted to throw out some thoughts.

What would you predict?

I’m not betting but I’d feel pretty good giving the 14.
Army has little real CFB talent. But if they don’t turn the football over like Navy did, I see something like 34-13 ND.

ND 42
Army 17

ND shouldn’t have any problem moving the ball. Passing or running. I vote for mostly running while going up tempo to start the game. Short passing underneath.

I just don’t know what to make of the defense this week. I could see the D shutting Army down completely or getting pretty thoroughly run on. I don’t envy preparing for this offense. There’s plenty to learn from the Navy game. Hopefully the coaches have some sort of backup plan in case their base defense isn’t working.
ND is a 14 point favorite

The game shouldn't be on Riley Leonard's shoulders. He should have been yanked against NIU mid second half. At least until ND regained a comfortable lead. We have back up quarterbacks who can do the job if Leonard isn't getting it done. I don't know why Leonard played the entire game against NIU when it was clear another quarterback could be used to some extent to change the trajectory of the game. If Leonard comes out flat at any point forward.....Freeman has to be prepared to adapt.
You could indeed make the argument that Riley Leonard had zero business playing the 2H against NIU. The dude was hurting.

Next Year's Offensive Line is going to be good!

LT Jagusah/Black
LG Schrauth/Augustine
C Craig/Pendleton or Knapp?
RG Knapp/Pendleton
RT Wagner/Lambert

Thought I'd take a stab at the two deep. I wonder if Rocco and Coogan come back. Hope so. Hell, Pendleton was on The Athletic's mid-season Freshman all-American team! A lot of NFL level talent in this two-deep!

What are you guys thinking will be the two deep?

Dont forget about G. Lambert and Black coming in.

I didn't. That two deep looks spot on.

@stu4don so why would I reply to your post & sjb75 answer for you? Your math aint mathin sport.

Yep, biggest question is what happens when a game is put on Leonard's shoulders? One thing about Love & Price is they both are very able pass catchers. So if an opposing defense loaded the box, I think there are some creative ways to use both of them in the passing game.

I will say, they didn't seem very good when we played them. They looked liked they sucked, like a middle of the pack MAC team. MAC teams are sometimes really good, and you can tell when they are, and NIU definitely wasn't that.

The way the season has gone, I feel like the NIU loss is irrelevant. It's a blemish, but it doesn't make us seem like we suck, on account of how we've pretty much rolled everyone else. Louisville being the only team to sort of give us a game. So it comes off like a fluke. And it's definitely way better that we beat A&M and proved ourselves, and had a stupid, random loss to NIU, than the other way around. A high value win being way more useful than avoiding a 'bad loss'.

Conference Championship Losers

Any school who is penciled into the CFP bracket the week before going into a conference championship game this year with the probable exception of Oregon runs the risk of being left out of the CFP if they lose their conference championship game. Whereas, if they didn’t play in the conference championship game, they would remain in the CFP and get a week off to rest and heal. Didn’t all the brilliant conference commissioners like Greg Sankey, the SEC Commissioner, and athletic directors at the different schools see this coming? Perhaps Swarbrick did and kept his mouth shut all the while wondering how none of the other power players realized the sweet spot Notre Dame would always be in if they were among the highest ranked teams in any given year like this year with the hope they would always be in the running for the 5 through 8 seeds (ideally 5).

Wait a minute. So the OP posted under the handle Stu4Don (im guessing a St John Bosco reference) and I replied to his post but he responded to my reply as Sjb75. Jesus dude not only have you been posing as a ND for over a decade but you also have multiple handles. 😂
WTF are you talking about?! my handle has nothing to do with John Bosco and I've never posted under another one. I'm an '78 alum who has been posting here for years. Do you hear voices too?
