AP Poll Out

We did something the last 3 top 10 SEC teams couldnt do which was win at College Station. Our defense is elite especially back 7. You can see the potential in our offense with a talented young oline, a hell of a 1 to 2 punch at running back. Upgraded WR corps and Evans coming back to full health in the next few weeks. We also have a solod vet fg kicker. Rankings always work themselves out but I dont see #5 as generous.

I'm with your points regarding the offense.

But I still am cautiously optimistic about a top 5 team right now. We've seen it can take time for an OL to jell. And Leonard is for practical purposes a year 1 starter.

As things jell, sure, I think ND can win it all. 1 step at a time. We've been here before, even getting smashed in the last test...think the BCS title game vs Alabama.

Believe me, I don't think it's that. Like I said, I feel NC potential this time around, if things fall into place.

Linebackers

From a few beers in, seems like Ausberry is or will be the guy on first and second down. Coaches trying to get Sneed on the field but not sure it’s all coming together for him. Don’t love him coming off the edge on 3rd downs as a predictable edge rusher, would be better disguised blitzing.

Bowen didn’t flash much on Saturday, think as the season progresses, the starting 3 will be Kizer, Ausberry and Villamu-asa
There's really only a starting 2. We're in the Nickel package most of the time. Kiser and Bowen started Saturday. On the 4th and 2 at the end, it was Kiser and KVA. Most of the time, it was Kiser and somebody else. So they definitely like having Jack out there, as the experienced veteran.

Was Tyler Buchner...

He could have been the starter, that's what he could have been used as. He's probably a better runner than RL, and has at least as much 'arm talent', he just wasn't all the way there yet. He had what, like three total starts? It's water under the bridge now, and presumably the only reason he wasn't welcomed back at QB is because he bolted on the team, at the most important leadership position, and the program had to move on. That's what I figured, not because the idea of him playing QB again was a nonstarter solely on the athletic merits.

But I suppose it is over for him, as he'd at least have to practice with the QBs if he were to have any chance at transferring to a smaller program. And now he's playing WR and waiting on some special package to see the field.
I recall Sam Hartman saying that he envied Buchner's arm.

Was Tyler Buchner...

Can he play in 2025? And if so I could see him becoming a depth piece at WR. And seeing the field. And maybe more....
Redshirted in 2022 so yes. He may prove to be valuable at QB depending on how the QB room shakes out.

I as well think he may be a depth piece at WR.

I think people are too quick to assume he sucks when he didn’t play as a high school senior, got hurt as a college sophomore, and then was replaced as a junior.

Was Tyler Buchner...

Tipped or not, Buchner threw too many interceptions. I think he threw at least one other pic 6 that season, if not two. Way too erratic to play quarterback.

But as I said earlier, he could be used in some kind of special package on offense.
