Seasons Over Play Angeli

ND cannot make the playoffs.....because there will be another deserving team without an NIU loss. ND needs an accomplished head coach.....Not a Freeman. ND needs to go after Dabo Swinney. He is being dissed at Clemson....and might be ripe for the taking. He is a winner who is going through the ups and downs...but possesses the championship chops that ND does not have. I've wanted this guy at ND for a while...how about next year?
It’s not all that bad, Irish lost to the 25th ranked team! 🤣

Post game presser.

Man- we have some soft fans. "He's clueless".....way too much of that.

Shit game. Shit gameplan. Freeman and "2 of the best coordinators in the countey" got out-coached. Awful game. Awful day for the program and fans. Just brutal. We gotta rebound from this, and luckily, we have 10 games left.

Let's stop with the "clueless" stuff. Were they "clueless" last week when they beat Elko and A&M in College Station?

Horrible game. Horrible day. And the staff has to own it. Players too. You can't lose to NIU. But does Freeman saying what you want him to say in the presser change anything? Nope.

Horrible day. On to Purdue.

We gotta rebound and beat Purdue and Miami OH. Then beat Louisville's asses in a revenge game. Get to 4-1, and we can start to think about playoffs again.

But stop wanting Freeman to get on his knees and beg ND Nation to not fire him. Won't happen.
I think it’s clear freeman and coordinators developed a plan to win one game, not 12 or 16 … they didn’t develop a great team. Nd needed wimbush legs and running threat plus big arm to beat um in 2018. Then said, if you can’t throw better you’re done, he was done. Leonard proved he can’t qb a team, move on

But moron freeman won’t

Seasons Over Play Angeli

The coaching staff already insulted the other QB’s By bringing in Leonard in the first place. They had no prob leapfrogging them.

“Angeli paid his dues” this isn’t UPS, there’s not a seniority list.

I’ll say this loud and clear ND is completely and totally ELIMINATED from the playoff. I’d put in a 4 loss SEC team before I’d put in ND with a MAC loss.
Not true, if they win 10 in a row they prove it was a fluke. And sitting at 18-20 with 10 games left, plenty of time to get back in the top 12. Just because you would doesn’t make it true.

If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it probably is a duck

The narrative around this football program is why the AP Poll/traditional ranking systems are so limited: Had NIU missed that game winning field goal and ND held on and won that game instead, ND would be ranked in the top 10 in the AP still at 2-0 and the narrative around the football program would be a lot more optimistic than it is now.

But does a missed fieldgoal really mean all that much when trying to objectively evaluate your football program overall?

This is why I feel like the peripherals (the under the hood data used in in the F+ formula) is more valuable than ever in scenarios like this where there's drastic change in narrative based on the results of a single event in a game.

My guess is F+ will have ND ranked somewhere in the 15-20th range after their performance vs NIU and then eventually ND will work their way back up the F+ rankings before maxing out somewhere around 10th (but only if everything goes perfectly the rest of the way) and this highlights a major organizational problem

ND --VERY PREDICTABLY-- recruits 10-15th ranked talent, puts together a 10 to 15th ranked 85 man roster, produces 10-15th ranked seasons, and is on a 10-15th ranked trajectory/projection (if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck its probably a duck)
We are all dumber for reading this. Chase may God have mercy on your soul.

The question that needs an answer

This team has the least experienced OL of any ND team in memory. Their stats looked pretty good against TAM because Leonard bailed them out repeatedly with his legs, and our running backs broke off two great runs. But the line is a major weakness right now, and we knew there would be significant growing pains, and yesterday was definitely painful. The question was always whether the defense could carry this team while the offense SLOWLY developed. That’s still the question.
If Greathouse catches the perfectly thrown homerun ball, we win yesterday and we would be talking about escaping a perfect trap game, etc…. But he didn’t and we aren’t.
Three observations about Leonard that concerns me. First, we moved the ball perfectly on our first TD drive with Leonard using his legs as a designed weapon, and yet we hardly saw this the rest of the game. Did Leonard get hurt or did Denbrock decide it was too risky? Secondly, I can’t recall a ND qb throwing the ball so poorly on so many passes. Some misses were clearly on the qb and receiver not being on the same page, and we don’t if these were qb mistakes or receiver mistakes. But, we do know Leonard missed so badly on several passes that neither the target or his defender had a chance at catching the errant throw. Thirdly, how the hell does any college qb underthrow his receiver streaking downfield by at least ten yards, and at the games most critical moment? Inexcusable and inexplicable unless Leonard is hurt and we don’t know it.
Going forward, we have to get much better play at the qb position, and this has to account for an OL that will continue to experience growing pains, and allow pressure on the qb in passing situations. My gut tells me each of Angeli and Minchey and Carr is a better passer than Leonard, but is any one of these mobile enough and strong enough and composed enough to thrive while our OL SLOWLY comes of age? It’s up to Denbrock to answer this and make his case to Freeman.
This was not a trap game. NIU was by far the better team they were better coached, they were more athletic, and they were more disciplined. Our team is not very good. We got crushed in the trenches on both sides or offensive line is absolutely horrible for some reason we wound up with our starting wide receivers being transfers so you gotta ask what the hell was Freeman doing with his recruiting. Defense is slightly above average Freeman needs to be fired. It’s year three and the collapses to second tier teams continues.
