This has always been Chaseball's mindset. He seems to think ND owes him something because he follows the football team.
If i responded to every erroneous claim attributed to me i wouldn't have enough time to post anything else.

Besides that point though, I think the discussion/disagreement/debate me and you have on this forum regularly is the same one going on internally at the highest levels of Notre Dame as it relates to the football program.

NIU head coach (former NFL RB coach) advising Marcus Freeman after ND loss

That’s a clear sign of ineptness.

How can you like a move that indicates that the coach doesn’t know why or how he lost ?
We hired MF based on potential (at least thats what i hope was the rationale behind the hire)

I don't mind our coach being humble enough to admit he doesn't know shIt and is a sponge for info/tips/advice/advantage.

One massive concern I have is the analyst hanging by Freeman. First, put that guy on a headset so you don’t look incompetent regardless of the value of the analyst. You’re wasting time and energy by looking around for him too.

Second, Freeman did not need him to help on the penalty acceptance prior to the end of the 3rd quarter. What does this data analyst actually know about football besides the math of the game and probabilities? Instinctively, he should have known to accept that penalty for several reasons. What does this analyst know about how ND is performing against NIU in this particular game? You’re going to leave this up to a data analyst? That is a MASSIVE red flag and just not a good look. Have him put a headset on.

This topic is always frustrating. What 5star kids are trying to come to ND that we aren’t accepting? I sure know of a lot more 5star kids we offer that simply choose another University. Academic restrictions are not what’s stopping us from a national title.

Anyways, we already do allow football players to get into ND with lower grades. You think all these kids are averaging 1400+ on the SAT?
Stick to your day job.

was anyone else a little disturbed by howard cross's remarks in the post game presser?

Dude, Cross is going to be a 1st round pick, or at least a fairly high draft pick, first three rounds, and he will be an NFL player. That's how you should refer to him. Not as a three star also-ran with a loser's mentality. For F's sake.

That has to be your weakest little argumentative gambit yet, diminishing all non-five star prospects.
He better get healthy soon for that to happen

NIU head coach

Help could be telling Freeman what they saw about his team that led to the gameplan they developed. In regards to tells and strengths/weaknesses.
“The last 9 games of film on Leonard showed a qb that can’t throw accurately and makes poor decisions” … your defense has terrible SDEs and if you pull at them they can’t hold up. Also, your lbs struggled vs A&M in coverage”

You’d really hope that Freeman and the staff can figure this out for themselves, but Hammock might have given them the details/thought process for why or how they did specific things/calls.

Edit: I’d bet Hammock had questions for Freeman and Freeman helper Hammock too. It’s not simply master/protégé.

Ignorance.

I don’t think this is so bad. I haven’t watched the interview to see exactly how it went down, but if Hammock wants to help Freeman, maybe he should have left out the part about helping Freeman and just left it at ‘we talked after the game and bounced ideas off of each other (because that’s probably what happened) and I’m confident that he’s got ND going in the right direction. He’s going to do big things.’ I think Hammock should know how his comments are going to be perceived. Again, I didn’t see the interview and maybe he did word it in a way that’s understandable. I mean, I understand it anyway, but maybe that’s not a good look for ND.

NIU head coach

What did those who supported Freeman’s hire think?

That he would simply waltz in and outperform a guy who by that time had 10 double digit win seasons, 113 wins at ND, 3 undefeated regular seasons, and in his final 5 seasons at ND, double digit wins in each of them while winning at an 85.7% clip and appearing in two playoff games?

VERSUS WHAT FREEMAN HAD ACCOMPLISHED?

And just because he was a NICER GUY than Kelly who recruits “identified” with?

This was the guy who was going to take ND to the PROMISED LAND? And because Jack Swarbrick had some kind of “VISION?”

Whatever CRACK those people were smoking, MAY I PLEASE HAVE A HIT?

You are 100% correct
