I like the idea of an 8 or 16 team playoff with no byes and no automatic bids, with the first game played on the campus of the higher seeded team. I suppose a 16-team field would keep interest in the regular season going longer, but I have some concerns about injuries taking their toll on teams once you start a longer playoff process, so maybe an 8-team field is the way to go.

I agree with what you're saying, but if you believe that a couple of hours before kickoff he still needed to prepare for the game, then he already lost.

Ohio State just might be jelling and peaking at the right time. That happens in many sports in playoffs...teams often start to turn it on from some choppiness during regular season.
