Downfield passing

Throwing downfield would be a lot easier with Alt and Fisher. The OL is a work in progress. Leonard needs to be better as well.

Greathouse needs to catch that deep ball against NIU and Knapp needs to not get blown up on that deep ball to Collins against Purdue. The perception of ND’s passing attack would be a little better if those two balls are completed.

ND playing @ home vs away

2023 ND lost to Louisville and Clemson on the road when they were favored. They also gave a great OSU a great game at home and won every other game by a wide margin.

2022 ND lost to Marshall and Stanford at home and then crushed a really good Clemson team at home.

Did ND really lose to NIU at home because they were at home, or did they just get beat by a better team that day? Perhaps A&M beats ND this year if Leonard and Weigman swap teams?

I think we sometimes put too much stock into home vs away.

ND playing @ home vs away

Let me preface this by saying I know ND football had a pretty extensive home winning streak up until Cincinnati.

Maybe this is anecdotal, but I believe when Notre Dame plays away, they take on us against the world mentality and they just play much better and harder. Not to mention I’d like the white and gold combo much better. 😉
Just anecdotal, but I don’t see this. I think of how we played on the road in big games against Michigan and Miami and Clemson, etc… vs how we played at home in big games against Michigan and USC and Clemson, etc… and home games get the nod. But to your point, we’ve also laid some of our biggest eggs at home…Tulsa and Marshall and NIU and USF for examples.

Take Purdue off the schedule

I just mothereffin' agreed with you, or rather acknowledged you. Was that not good enough? Was there something about my tone you didn't appreciate? 66-7 stings, don't it. I guess that does suck to cheer for a team that gets reamed that severely. And as a bit of consolation, now that the most prestigious brand in CFB, maybe the most hallowed name in all of American sport, that of ND football, the Fighting Irish, is going to suffer a serious blow to their great tradition with the loss of their most time-honored rival, you can't STFU about it. And the reason being for this, as you proudly repeat, is so their schedule's easier. As in annually playing the likes of Purdue, and not ND. Because they will stomp your ass just as readily as we did. And they have the playoff to consider.

So I think everyone does get it, or they've certainly heard you out.
Shucks, don't candycoat it for me. Tell me what you really think.

How do we even know if they're any good or not?
Faison is the best of the bunch but the others ...
who knows.

We aren't using a QB that can get them a ball down the field and see what they can do.
3 yard curl and sit routes continue and for god sake Jerome Bettis even today....could play WR running these routes.

Plus our WR coach sucks...

Moreover we MUST get a QB throwing the ball all around the field so it looks like some fun for any potential receivers.

Think about it...
Our best receiver is a Lacrosse player.
In other words amazing perimeter talent wants nothing to do with playing for us and nor should they.

This is bad in 137 different ways but the most glaring is above. Our best receiver is a Lacrosse player.
That says all about out WR recruiting, coaching, playing ,etc.

It sucks!
We have our own Mel Kiper here.

Our best receiver by far is beaux even when faison is healthy. He’s a high 4 star recruit out of HS and transfer to ND. It’s why it’s important to get talented players, it shows.

Faison is a good wr, need him to get healthy and hopefully he is now. He adds a quickness element no other wr on our team has

I was also told in this Forum that Purdue having a bye before Notre Dame was a huge concern, and that Jack Swarbick was to blame.

Who in the holy HAIL....think's he's a first round pick?

If the Browns didn't have Watson then I would say they might take him 1st round...or the Bengals having Burrows otherwise they might trade up to the first spot to take him...
Maybe Al Davis if he was still alive would take him in the first...

But people that actually know football and what to look for at each position....

Riley is NOT a Sunday QB in any round. PERIOD!
Riley is NOT a D1 Top 12 ranking QB. PERIOD!

CFL and maybe Arena...
are they still playing arena? Even the CFL is tough as their field is even bigger.

He is not an NFL QB.

Weak inaccurate arm. The things you need in the NFL. Windows are tighter. Players are faster. Throws have to be faster. You don't need a 75 yard bomb but the 30 yard frozen rope is paramount.
None of which he can do.
I was told last season by you and many others in this Forum that Sam Hartman would never make an NFL roster.

Stick to your day job.

Downfield passing

Coming into the season, I watched a lot of Riley Leonard highlights, and while he did not show a lot of downfield passability, I thought with Denbrock coming in that works change. I’ll take a W all day, but I’m a little disappointed in a quarterback run centered offense.

If the offense can hit two downfield shots a game mixing the QB run with the zone concepts it will be hard to stop this offense

When is enough...enough

When does the Camel back break via straw?
When will a slew teams say enough is enough. This entire thing is wrong and we're going our own way. Done with paying for playing.
One team does it then it's suicide.
A group of teams do it then it gets attention.
A bunch of teams do it that makes a difference.

This whole pay to play ordeal has become insanity meets loco meets wild west meets....

So what's your solution ? The courts have ruled. The NCAA dropped the ball on a long simmering issue. There are billions of dollars floating around. The toothpaste isn't going back into the tube. It was NEVER intended to get to where we are today. In my opinion revenue sharing is the only rational solution.
