Except with a young o line that struggles in pass protection as they mature, an immobile QB is a liability. At this point in time the running ability of Leonard in read option is crucial. Evans becoming more healthy should help the passing attack. It's not gonna be prolific by any stretch of the imagination. I like Angeli in small doses but he's a statue back there and has a high percentage of sacks per dropbacks in his short career. Hell the one last week was completely inexcusable. Just stood there.
In his tiny sampling size....
It's been essentially since the bowl game since he's had real reps in a game for long periods of time.
You can't simulate games at practice wearing the don't hit me jersey.
Reps against the opposition is the only way he gets a better sense of feel with the clock...the rush clock that is.
That said Riley has had time. Way more than you think.
Riley bails on the pocket way too early.
The NIU interception he had plenty of time, wound up and heaved the ball for only a mind boggling 38-39 yards.
T-shirt and shorts he might hit 42 or 43 yards. That's all he's got.
The other bad part is the accuracy. He has none.
He's like Wimbush with no arm strength.
Angeli gives us a chance. The rush clock in his head will come with game time.
Mark my words this daisy schedule we have against a bunch of sister teams will have some defenses loading the box daring us to throw deep.
We won't because we're still terrified of failure and Riley just can't do it.
The NIL is setting the depth chart.
