2. Texas
3. Tennessee
4. Alabama
5. South Carolina
6. Mississippi
7. TAM
8. LSU

That’s 8 teams in the SEC that are at least above average IMO.

Best overall conference in CFB.
Tennessee was exposed by Ohio State. They were destroyed by OSU

Alabama lost to very average Vanderbilt and Oklahoma

LSU lost to USC, Florida, and got spanked by Alabama

Mississippi lost to Kentucky, Florida, and LSU.

T&M lost to ND at their place. Everyone complains about ND playing cupcakes yet they went into one of the most hostile environments and beat them. And they lost to Auburn.

Like I said, 3-4 top teams in that conference and the rest are non playoff caliber teams.

Considering 84 of 131 FBS teams are bowl eligible, getting to 6-8 wins is no longer a major accomplishment especially when the SEC schedules 2 FCS teams and mostly one weak FBS team. Thats 3 wins most of the SEC teams start off with. It's pretty easy to find 3-5 wins within the conference.

I Hope I’m Wrong … But

Again, you're wrong. it was several minutes into the game, not just the kickoff. Each team had two offensive possessions prior to ND scoring its first TD.
No they didn't. We had 1 possession we threw an int. The next time we touched the ball Love went 98 yards. Then the next time we got out we had a 16 play drive.

After 3 drives it was 14 to 0 and the game was over

I Hope I’m Wrong … But

That's a disingenuous comment. Indiana got an interception and was driving for a TD early in the 1st Quarter, and Watts got an interception at the 2 yard line to prevent a score.
That's all true. But were you ever nervous during the game. I wasn't. Even if they got a TD there, we had more talent the better team and coaches and I was there and the environment was great

We weren't losing that game and it didn't matter if they scored there or not

The state of the ND defensive line

Golson will say the rankings are wrong.
No I'll say they are accurate. We have 6 four star players on our interior DL.

and that's one of the reasons our defense has been so good this year.

We have a lot of really good players and a really good coach.

You dont have a top 5 defense in the country without really good players and this is showing you we have really good players by the recruiting rankings

Why isn't MFs success netting more blue chip interest?

Once Ryan Day gets canned the allure of OSUs top talent is going to be really hard for Marcus Freeman to resist. I dont know why ND has to operate as the little engine that could and not the industry leader that it is in terms of annual sales/revenue. Makes no sense to me. And fans dont push back and ask critical questions they instead lap up the university's PR machine and alienate anybody who challenges their belief about it. Disgusting.
Yawn.

The state of the ND defensive line

Looking at the interior and guys currently on the roster, here is the composite rankings for 6 years of recruiting. How would this be evaluated at say WR? Very good?

Mills 159

Cross 322

Rubio 153

Onye 629

Hinish 502

Mukan 193

Houstan 234

Vernan 203

Mullins 680

Sevilano 528
So 6 four star and 4 three star with our lowest ranked recruiting being 680.

Now after you do the edge guys you'll have 6 more four stars and 1 three star

So 12 four stars and 5 three stars.

Is that your calculations as well? So yes I would put that top 12 in the country and I would call top 12 recruiting very good

Why isn't MFs success netting more blue chip interest?

I noticed ND is now a 2 point underdog to UGA.

If ND had top 5 talent, instead of back end top 10 talent, they would probably be a 5 point favorite with a far higher likelihood to win this game.

I like how several of the posters in this thread understand how the talent rankings work and what they represent but are now disregarding the information/evidence and playing make believe in their heads that ND has 5 star talent on the field lol

ND has 3 & 4 star talent that has been maximized with great player development and great scheme but its the lack of high 4 & 5 star talent that is still capping this program's upside.

Imagine NDs coaching staff with OSUs roster/talent for example

OSUs roster has 14 five-stars and another 10+ top 100 prospects on it for example (that means 25 of their 80+ scholarship players are top 100 consensus talent with more than half of that being 5-star talent)

Imagine what Marcus Freeman/ this coaching staff could do with that much talent?
So now, being a 2 pt underdog to the best team of the last 5 years is somehow a disgrace to you?

Sorry ND rejected you

The state of the ND defensive line

Dude, are you hear to have a discussion (it is a discussion board) or are you here to argue about arbitrary things? We are not comparing ND to Pitt… the goal is to win a title, so in comparison to the Georgias and Ohio States of the world, it’s definitely not all that well.

UGA and OSU both have 8 top 100 d linemen. ND has 2, 3 if you include Burnham (one is out for the year). OSU and UGA both have multiple 5 stars (3-4 each, maybe more… we have zero). There has always been a gap between ND and the elite of the elite when it comes to D line recruiting. This isn’t worth arguing over brother.
We have 11 4star DL. We aren't recruiting the DL not that well

That's a false inaccurate narrative.

We are recruiting the DL very well just not at the elite level.

If that's what you said originally I would agree with you brother. Just calling out the false narrative that some like to say we don't recruit DL well. Because it is inaccurate
