Pandora's box would be easier than this mess...

If the NCAA wanted to simply reward anyone in my family with a fully paid athletic scholarship including room and board for 4-5 years, and zero college debt when you are finished, I would ask where do we sign up.
That has nothing to do with the issue at hand. The whole thing began when scholarship athletes wanted to have the same opportunities as any other student on full scholarship who could benefit from their name, image, likeness and skills. A girl I knew at MSU was on a music scholarship. She posed for the " Girls of the Big Ten " issue of Playboy magazine and was paid pretty well for it. An athlete back then would have not been permitted to benefit from a similar arrangement. That's just one of many examples. The toothpaste is out of the tube. Collective bargaining is the only rational solution.

Pandora's box would be easier than this mess...

The comparing what players are doing to coaches is a flawed argument. Coaches and even actual professional players are on multi-year contracts with buy outs. These kids are spoiled brats that just want more allowance money.

Put all of them on contracts. Allow them to unionize and collectively bargain. That'll put an end to the ridiculousness and install some actual professionalism.

Just curious how you guys felt when Laranaga still had years left on his contract at George Mason but he had his agent go the AD & President and say hey coach loves it here but Miami just offered so much more. Tell the kids I recruited good luck. Was it too professional then? F this guy and his hypocritical high horse. He was old and wanted out. He used this an excuse.
Well.. while you are right, You cant deny the current situation game him an easy excuse.

UGA

Been reading a lot of various UGA media, social media, etc. Mostly, they are not scared or worried about Notre Dame. I hate to say it, but they're not wrong. Until we actually win a game like this, who can blame them? We're coming in a bit beat up as well.

I expect ND to be able to put some points on the board. TBH, i'm not terribly worried about the offense making plays and doing enough. I'm deathly worried about how well our defense will hold up for 60 minutes. I don't know if Golden can "out scheme" them enough to make up for our lack of depth on the defensive line tbh.

Best case scenario is for our offensive to control the clock, make long, time consuming drives and score points. I just don't think we can afford to put this on the defenses back. UGA is too big up front for that. I think it goes without saying, we have to put them in third and long a lot.
We don't know if they are wrong or not. The game hasn't been played.

I'm not scared of Georgia either

They can beat us. We can beat them. Expect a very good game

Georgia is going to attempt to run the ball down NDs throat

The thing that sticks in my head is how good those 2012 and 2020 Alabama teams were, and the 2018 Clemson team. All National champions, all really really good.
Oh you're not wrong there. The 2012 Bama squad in particular was ridiculous. Watching our guys walk out onto that field was like watching lambs being led to slaughter.. lol. 2018 Clemson was similar. The 2020 Bama team, that was the game that I felt ND was competitive in for the most part and as I said, depth, to me, was the deciding factor. Bama eventually leaned on us long enough and wore us down, but we were right there.

As I said, its time for the Irish to put up or shut up... we REALLY need to win a game like this asap. Honestly, if we win this one, I think we match up very well against PSU (assuming they'll beat BSU) and we beat them. Its just these bloody SEC teams......

Notre Dame Win versus Indiana (Top four pivotal plays) !!!!!

Notre Dame Nation:

I re-watched the Indiana vs. Notre Dame college football playoff game and was curious what you think was the top four pivotal plays of the game. Mine are as follows:

1. Xavier Watts - Interception
2. Jeremiyah Love - 98-yard touchdown run
3. The fake field goal attempt - Freeman punked Cignetti into calling a timeout (the smile that said - I got you) was priceless. "Cignetti eats crow for all of that smack talk!"
4. The recovery by Jordan Faison, when Mitchell Evans fumbled

Honorable Mention: Jordan Faison's 44-yard reception.

Go Irish!!!
Aneyas Williams. Nobody is talking about him. Rewatched the first half last night he had two great catches (one diving, one he picked up off the turf) -- and two big first down runs in clutch situations. Love had the big run, but those four plays were crucial to ND securing the lead for good.

The thing that sticks in my head from past failures in the post season against Alabama and the very good Clemson teams is our lack of quality depth on the defensive line in particular. Obviously this year, we're thin there to begin with, which makes the idea of us standing toe to toe with a big Georgia offensive line very troubling. I remember watching Alabama push us around most of the last game we played against them. I also recall watching Alabama sub in on the defesive front quite a bit and not seeing a significant drop off.

That to me is one of the biggest things that the SEC power houses have had and we have not. Once you get to this stage of the season, line play is the most important item on the field. Whoever dominates the offensive and defensive lines... wins. We certainly don't have the firepower on offense to turn this into a track meet.

I hope i'm completely wrong and pleasantly surprised, but I see us getting ground down and losing this game by 10 or so.

That's a REASONABLE analysis.

To summarize -- particularly in respect to your characterization of ND's D-Line as "gutted" -- a number of pieces are CERTAINLY in place for Georgia to win this game.

And I agree that for ND to win it, the O will have to come up big and perhaps in surprising and spectacular ways.

The Mills injury and the question as to whehter or not Cross is 100% loom large.

UGA

I feel like it will be a close game. We have a qb with little experience. He does hold the Georgia high school passing records, w over 11000 yards. He’s also a runner.
This team has not dominated games, like others in recent years. They have found a way to barely win games. When they are clicking, they can play with anyone. UGA has also been dealing w injuries all season. More than any Kirby team. Other than our QB, we are more healthy than we have been for any game this season. I expect a close game.
Cheers to you all and go Dawgs.
