If Christian Gray can get back to his earlier year technique, ND has a real chance

CG can ball but recently he has resorted to grabbing and cheating more than usual. I'm not sure if it's from being picked on more, but it's cost ND some yards either by play or penalty. We now see that ND's DL can stand up to the big boys so that D backfield has to continue to do it's job. Right now if I wish any player could come back it would be B-Mo! Love the grit in CG, but he needs to clean up his play.
Why don’t you write them a personal letter and let them know how you feel ! 😜

Our dline played solid, they played FAR from lights out. Golden had so many well timed run blitzes called and the LBs, and safeties did unreal against the run. Yes the Dline made some huge plays against their awful LT. I'm not saying our front 4 played bad, but to say our front 4 was stuffing them is just untrue.
Georgia's oline didnt get a push all night, their oline rarely got to the 2nd level which allowed our lbs to get downhill and attack the rb's. Georgia had 62 yards the whole game. That wasnt because of run blitzes that was a result of the dline stuffing the middle and lbs and safeties coming up and making plays.

Best LB group in ND history

So hard to compare eras. Those guys were great in theirs and the current group is really good already and their best football is still ahead of them. Remarkable that they're this good this young collectively. I expect them to be way better next year.
Agree. It’s like comparing Tony Rice to Riley Leonard or Ricky Watters and Rocket to Jeremiyah Love. Why bother.

Jeter Appreciation

Special Teams has been a big boost this year overall. I was coming to say Jeter definitely deserved some love for yesterday. 9 crucial points on FG's. In addition, the fake punts they have run and executed have been masterfully designed. My boss who is a huge UGA fan texted me right after the 4th down punt team run on/off and Leonard drawing them into the neutral zone, that Freeman outcoached Kirby and that play was the culmination of it all.

Ski…HAPPY?

TelX

Thanks for being my wingman on this board, and metaphorically speaking, this journey that we take with our many posting friends supporting a team we love.

It is a unique dynamic, a strange bond that we all share as we exchange opinion and banter about a subject we are passionate about. I have some “friends” on this board who I know well but have never met. Their monikers have transcended the test of time and make me smile - make me know that life has some special gifts that I am grateful for

We all are sharing a special moment right now. One that we have believed would come. One that we never gave up on. This moment will not be defined by what happens after the next game, or the 16th game, but by the way our team and its amazing Coach has carried itself and brought ND back to the center of the collegiate football universe

I love this team. I love this Coach. I love you all and yes, TelX, I am like you very happy

Ski…your comments capture the special essence of Notre Dame and its fans. Thank you!

For those who know the rules

You could use that play as a literal textbook example, when teaching aspiring young refs, and this is when you call it. More than meets the criteria. And carefully go over every aspect of the play. The fact that the guy needed several minutes to recover, brings home and reminds everyone why the rule was instituted in the first place. We're trying to limit brain damage, in an inherently hyper violent and physically destructive sport. And in the effort to do so, we harshly penalize hits exactly like this so as to discourage the practice. These are the kind of hits that concuss people. Precisely what we're trying to prevent with this rule. And every future ref coming down the pike could study this exact play, and burn it in his brain. That's targeting.

WTF, our dline played lights out. They stuffed Georgia's oline all night. Georgia got very little push and Oben had the gamebreaking play that changed the whole complextion of the game. Not only are you one of the worse complainers here you compound it by not even knowing what you're complaining about.

For those who know the rules

It was not the correct call. Faison may or may not have been going forward, but that was not what was called. That would be a false start. The call was illegal shift. Evans moved up to the line, but was stopped before Faison went into motion. That is all that needs to happen,. He does not have to be set for 1 sec like they would both need to be if they were in motion at the same time.
I agree with this.

It really makes you feel like the official was trying to find a reason to make a call against ND.

For those who know the rules

The parameters of the rule need to be redefined in my opinion. I've read many quotes from folks who thought it was a good no call. I know two college officials. One thought it was targeting, the other absolutely not. It's too subjective. Hell, running backs lower their helmets and deliver blows all the time and many times helmet to helmet. Personally to me just another rule that hinders the defense to the benefit of the offense. I know it's about safety but it's a one way street. I've never seen an offensive player called for it.
There was nothing subjective about that hit, it was an open and shut case as clearly defined in the rules.

Any official who declared the no call, as a good call, should never be allowed to officiate again.

That was a no call for one reason and one reason only, it was going to impact the outcome of the game.

Defenseless player, hit to the head, that’s all you need to know

You are 100% correct about running backs lowering their heads, but they’re not targeting the heads of the defender
