Jeter

To add to his success story, the CFP committee seems to have insisted on using its own football for every playoff game, and it's awful for kickers and punters. IU's punter wasn't the only one playing like garbage in the 1st round. Punting averages have been WAY down for the playoffs, and missed field goals have been frequent. Some kickers have even been missing field goals short from less than 50 yards, which just isn't a thing in modern college football.

Jeter in this playoff is like a track runner who was forced to run on cinders instead of a modern surface and still got his best time of the season.

Officially Official Sugar Bowl ND v. UGA Game Thread

I'm just trying to talk football about my favorite team with fellow passionate fans. You dont like my opinions of Notre Dame, you disagree with my opinions, but can't counter the points I make on an intellectual level because they are sound points with good logic and evidence. so instead you attack me on a personal level, and try to derail the conversation and discredit me, etc. that's certainly your right. i would just ask that you look at the bigger picture. we all benefit when we have a welcoming community where people feel free to express their opinions about the football team no matter how different/negative/positive they may be.
Ive counter your points many times about recruiting and the SEC/ F+ rating flaws, ect. I think board respects my opinions and insights but by no means think im an expert.

Football WR Beaux Collins played at "80-85%" physically during Sugar Bowl

Notre Dame WR Beaux Collins told reporters tonight that he was actually fortunate that the Sugar Bowl got delayed today, because it gave him more time to recover from a stomach bug that hit him earlier in the week.

He even got an IV at halftime.

“Physically, I was probably about 80-85, but mentally I was 100 ready to go," Collins said. "I was like, ‘There’s not way I’m sitting out of this game. There’s no way y’all are gonna keep me off the field or anything like that.’ I was ready to roll.”

Obviously, he was not celebrating the fact that it got delayed or the reason why, but it worked out for him.

I think this is just going to be one of those Penn State-Notre Dame games. Probably a one-score game and probably less than a TD. But then again, I'm not one of the board's self-appointed geniuses, so what do I know?
I’ll say this. Looking at both teams, they mirror each other in many ways. I agree , it has all the makings of classic ND vs PSU game. The Irish just have to find a way to win.

The key in my humble opinion is to get after Drew Allar early and often. He is a very capable QB who can pass and if needed , can run. However , I’ve seen him knocked off his game by getting pressure. If he gets time to throw, look out. Their receivers are more than good enough to make plays. As mentioned, 44 is going to be tough to stop. He catches everything and he also lines up in the backfield. ND offense is going to have to play their very best and put up some points. I watched Penn State all year. They have gotten better every game. Right now you can see they are hitting their stride. They handled the first two playoff games with ease. I don’t believe ND wins without making some plays in the passing game. Penn state will sell out to stop their run . If the Irish can get them to back off crowding the line with some throws , then the running lanes will be there. If not, it could be a good night for the Nittany Lions.
44 is real tuff to stop. He has lined up as: TE, WR, Slot R, RB, QB, Center, and Punter. He was a QB in HS and knows how to play the position. Not only that, but he caught a well contested TD pass as the Center on the same play, which I've never seen before, and likely will never see again. Your best defender should be stuck to him like glue.

EDIT for the mod. If you don't want me to post, just tell me, but if you want me to continue, stop with the restrictions set for your review. It's impossible to have a discussion if you have to review everything first.

I think this is a very fair and accurate assessment of this game. I full expect their tight end to get his catches, but we have to limit his production. Several Teams did that this year and none of them, outside of Ohio State has as good of a defense as we do.

Penn State worries me to be honest as like you said, if we can't get to Allar and knock him around, its going to be a struggle. I will argue that Penn State's offense, right now, is better than Georgia and Allar is better than Stockton.

Their offense doesn't strike me as a physical bunch so it'll be interesting to see how well they hold up against a relentless rush. But we have to get home on blitzes.

Our offense... well... we better play A LOT better than we did against UGA...

Respect for Marcus Freeman

That wasn't my point. My point was that as soon as ND experiences its next setback, people will be calling for Freeman's head. Not that the university is going to rush out and can him.

FWIW, I also defended BK from firing. Especially because he restored ND to competitiveness, something every coach since Holtz couldn't do. So many programs fire coaches and then hire busts.

Even when a transition is smooth, the next coach often has trouble. DeBoer at AL and Moore at MI come to mind. Because of that along, MF merits 5 years minimum, no matter what happens these playoffs...but he's also earned it and then some.
