“The SEC is full of many quality teams. I think if you take out OSU and Oregon there are 6-8 teams from the SEC that are way better than anyone else in the BIG 10. Incredibly deep this year pretty much top to bottom.”

Nonsense.

“way better”? You’ve always been an sec honk but give me a break. Besides, what kind of comparison is that? Take the two top teams in the sec out of the equation, you’re saying there’s 4-6 teams left that are “way better” than the big 10 sans osu & oregon? Is lsu better than usc in your scenario? They’re a very average conference this year and the results prove that.

The margin is tighter. I still give the SEC the edge. I skim a few games during enough Saturdays. The SEC is still good. Period.

For the 1st time in years, they're indeed being challenged as top 4...Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas is non-traditional SEC. Bulldogs might be in there, but even they aren't peak SEC.

Anybody would be as challenged in their league with that schedule.

Says you. I watch a lot of football. My eyes tell me different. I think LSU is much better than USC. I think Ole Miss, A&M, Bama, South Carolina, Georgia, are all better than Penn St. I'm a football fan who calls it how I see it. Not sure how I'm a SEC honk. I was a huge Bama fan when coach was there. No longer.
Uhhhh.....USC beat LSU head to head

But of course, much better

No bias here at all

Marcus Freeman Has This Team Playing Hard

There is no question that the NIU loss was a bad one and should have never happened, but since that game Freeman has had the team focused and prepared every week. Games against option teams like Navy and Army used to always leave me feeling uneasy going into the game, but this year we destroyed Navy and Army in both of those games. Yesterday's game against Army was a clinic in how to defend the option. Before the game the sideline reporter asked Marcus Freeman what he wanted to see in the game and he gave a one-word answer: "Violence." That is exactly what we saw. The D hit hard and often last night. It was fun to watch. I expect Bryson Daily will be feeling the lumps from the beating he took all week.

I feel like we are starting to see Marcus Freeman really hit his stride. After the NIU game there were calls to fire him by some on this board. Those wild arguments haven't aged very well.

There were also many on this board who thought ND made a big mistake hiring MF over Luke Fickell. ND now sits at 10-1 and Wisky is at 5-6. I was confident then we hired the right coach, and feel even stronger about that opinion now.

Let's keep the train rolling next week against USC.

ND vs Army game thread

Seriously I said the same thing. But I guess in retrospect he is training to be a military officer and will face possibly much more worse than a few tackles.
True, but right now, the coach should be focusing on winning football games. Running the QB into the ground is not going to help Army beat Tulane next week. It was a tremendous disservice to the team IMO. Imagine if he got hurt and Army lost to Tulane and Navy? I’d be pissed if I were an Army fan.

At Auburn 43 Texas A&M 41

Couldn't disagree more. Solid teams who have difficult environments to play in. Great, great year for college football across the board.
Yeah Vandy losing to Georgia State. Great

Miss state getting beat by 24 to Toledo. Great

Auburn losing to Cal. Great

Florida getting destroyed by Miami. Great

Lsu getting beat by USC. Great

Arkansas gets beat by mighty Oklahoma state. Great

Just all greatness up and down 🤣

By far the best up and down lol

How much more " upside " are you you looking for ? They're thrashing everyone.

I explained ND winning is not a fuller test due to the schedule and some lingering doubt vs NIU. Yes, ND is taking care of business, as you only can play the schedule you have...but the upside is doing it in the playoffs, showing PROVEN elite capability.

Thrash them in the playoffs. Like the Fighting Irish did in my youth, instilling fear in everybody. Return to glory.

I spent some time watching various games today. ND is good for top 10 for sure. Not top 5 yet.

Ohio State, Oregon, Georgia, and Texas are favored over the Irish. But at this point, I think ND is in a tight pack with teams like Penn State, Alabama, Tennessee, and TAMU...noting 2 of these lost today.

Interesting how this is all playing out. From the ashes of NIU to a pretty good outfit right now. I just hope the O can do it against the better teams when it counts.

1 more to go. I am watching USC vs UCLA. ND is better than the Trojans...but the Trojans are better than Army.

Trojans have some explosiveness in O. But stall in the red zone. D not that good. I have to believe ND beats them, although it will be competitive.
Watching PSU, Bama and UTn....I dont see them being favored over ND....its a "Pick'em" based on where they play.....Oregon isnt exactly blowing people out, they got lucky against Wisky that got blown out by Nebraska. UGA's QB is inconsistent, and TX lost badly the only talented team they have played to date.

ND is a top 5 when RL is on......When he hits open receivers and you cant stack the box we will be tough to beat. You have to hope for a bad day because our defense will give him numerous chances. I like where we are, doesnt matter if we are 1 or 5......But, if you were really ranking them it would be Oregon, OSU, TX and ND.......those teams are passing the eye test.

I agree. The SEC is full of many quality teams. I think if you take out OSU and Oregon there are 6-8 teams from the SEC that are way better than anyone else in the BIG 10. Incredibly deep this year pretty much top to bottom.

I agree 100%. Even Alabama, can't believe we're saying that, is a dangerous team. They've played a really strong schedule in a transition year. A lot are writing off the SEC prematurely.

Don't get me wrong. I'm enjoying our Notre Dame 1st world college football problems. 1st time a while I felt this good about ND.

Most importantly, I feel some magic about the team. Marcus Freeman, as this is what it will take and he has to bring. I just don't want to get too carried away...NIU and the schedule are real factors.

The Irish need to win next week...and I for one see some start aligning, as maybe some strong SEC teams get left out...on too many losses vs some proportional representation.

Again, for me the goal of the a 12 team playoff...get the 1st 4-5 in, with some margin for the rest. ND should be there.
