CFP Rankings

Well, good to see we moved up and would be hosting a game. But the opponent is not the one we probably would prefer, as Bama's still one of the most talented teams out there. Things will continue to change in the rankings, though.
Bama is #4 in F+ and a tier 1 team and would be an easy favorite vs ND.

These CFP rankings arent giving enough credit to opponent quality and way overvaluing the W-L record.

There's going to be a lot of playoff quality teams (clear top 12 teams in the country) that don't make the playoff or really good tier 1 teams playing other tier 1 teams in the early rounds and knocking each other out, and you're going to get crap teams (by sheer luck) getting a way easier path to later rounds in the playoff than they should.

All of this waters down the product and erodes the confidence/quality/integrity of the playoff.

Northern Illinois

Notre Dame has been mentioned about 20 times the last three weeks in the NIU games.

@savvyandsassier I thought NIU played very well in that game. They were the better team. Like the 95 yard TD pass. That was a great job by the QB delivering a perfect pass with Mills barreling down on him. Got everybody blocked up in the run game. The QB made other good throws. High level football IMO. They played good defense too.

Northern Illinois

I will say, they didn't seem very good when we played them. They looked liked they sucked, like a middle of the pack MAC team. MAC teams are sometimes really good, and you can tell when they are, and NIU definitely wasn't that.

The way the season has gone, I feel like the NIU loss is irrelevant. It's a blemish, but it doesn't make us seem like we suck, on account of how we've pretty much rolled everyone else. Louisville being the only team to sort of give us a game. So it comes off like a fluke. And it's definitely way better that we beat A&M and proved ourselves, and had a stupid, random loss to NIU, than the other way around. A high value win being way more useful than avoiding a 'bad loss'.
Hard to understand one word of this.

Ole Miss & Georgia

It’s weird how you call Georgia “Georgia” but you call Ole Miss “Lane Kiffin”. Is there a reason for that?

If their schedules weren’t so different, I’d happily argue for Ole Miss to be ahead of Georgia.
I’ve followed Lane since he was an OC at USC and being fired as a head coach at USC.

Great comeback story, and IMO, a damn good head coach.

He’s perfect for a place like Oxford, Mississippi.

Next Year's Offensive Line is going to be good!

bold move of knapp over craig. Do you put that there due to ability, or craig coming off injury and not practicing in the spring?
Nasty, a combination of both. I think Knapp has the potential to be an elite interior talent. He moves exceptionally well and he is aggressive as hell. He struggles in pass pro on occasion out on the edge against quicker guys, but that one weakness disappears inside. If Craig had played all season as our center, then I would give him the nod. But given his injury, and Knapp’s development and his elite skill set, I think Knapp wins the job.

Ole Miss & Georgia

Mississippi didn’t just win, they beat Georgia up and down the field.

To say 8-2 Georgia deserves to be ranked over 8-2 Lane Kiffin is ludicrous.

CFP Rankings

It’s all focused more around trying to make an insanely fragmented sport happy than it is just flat out ranking the 12 teams that they believe are “best” in order, and that in itself creates its own problems that its people choosing the playoff teams rather than every other sport in existence just having a uniform set of conferences, leagues, or whatever and having clearly defined playoff parameters. There’s no way it will last a long time in its current form.

Georgia #10? Come on.
