Why Notre Dame should join the ACC in Football.

Don't respond to my posts if you don't know what you are talking about. Iowa and Illinois did not play each other for six straight years, from 2007-2014. There were others in the Big 10 who didn't play each other for six straight years, but I don't have the time or desire to go and look them up. It was well documented here in the midwest.

Nope, you're wrong. Iowa and Illinois played in 2007 and 2008. They also did play in 2014. Get your facts straight before you accuse me of anything.

To turn it around on you, don't respond to my posts until you actually read them. I pointed out that the Big Ten won't have this problem because they play 9 conference games. The 9-game schedule goes into effect in 2016. When that happens, no schools will go more than 4 years without playing each other.

I would rather see ND shut down every sports program that can't survive as an independent than see ND in the Big 10. Remember 1925. If you must ask then go study your ND history.

Alot of things happen in 1925. Life goes on the world changes as is college football today.

IF ND is forced to be in a conference the only reasonable choice for academics as well as athelics is the Big 10. The Big 10 is NDs History. ND could not of become ND w/o it's Big 10 connections

That seems to be the consensus opinion amongst a majority of ND fans. At least those I rub shoulders with on occasion. There appears to still be a lot of angst over something that happened a long time ago. What ever happened to "get over it"?

Finally, agreement. The brand of ND has been degraded significantly. 28 years without a NC does that. Basically the brand for ND is a combination of nostalgia and hope. For instance, 2012 was a result of that. We had no business being in the NC game but some polsters hoped for a Jim Valvano type Cinderella story. The CW years prior to coach finesse continued to produce teams posing as contenders. The devastating destruction at the hands of our opponents in these losses resounds with the polsters to this day. Until this team become dominant to the point that they cannot be left out of the NC discussion and actually win a meaningful bowl game, this doubt will persist. Close games to Wake Forest, Navy, Tulsa, etc. will not get it done.

In other words, the brand does not justify the self-absorption of ND football administration and its myopic vision of its place in CFB, Eventually, if the institution does not adhere to the powers that be, we will be on the outside looking in with our little beaks pressed against the window.
perhaps i didn't explain my opinion clearly. i don't believe ANY school will be strong enough to stand alone if there is a move to say 4 super conferences. the nd performance on the field the last few decades has had little effect on the ND brand in my opinion. it's solid as a rock. the changing landscape of college football may indeed force their hand to join a super conference in the future.

Only an idiot would take that position. Ever heard of Title IX? Just when you think the peak of stupidity has been reach, there you go again, reaching for new heights.

No, only an idiot would say that the basketball season is in the dumper less than half way through the season. Look in the mirror.

SIB,

I believe it's not just what happened in 1925. The book "Natural Enemies" (A great book btw) defines some bad blood in an era when the thought of Super Conferences, and playoffs were not even a consideration.

To me the ND brand is larger than any conference, but it seems the powers that be are taking college football in a direction where an independent will be left swinging in the breeze. Even one as strong as ND could get over look in playoff seatings.

Being a part time member in a weak conference will not help.

For the record my hope is Notre Dame remains Independent, but my perception is when it's all said and done an Independent is on an island even a part time one.

Everything is good here minus the "close games" sentiment.

Traditional dominance is a rarity now. Too many teams exploit the no huddle hurry up offense.

There are no more great defenses. There are defenses that will make plays at times and that is about all you can hope for. A key stop here or there but a dominant stone wall defense providing lopsided games are not the norm any longer.

You should stop drinking. You smell like urine all the time and your family will have some respect for you. You're going to end up just like your father, passed out drunk in the gutter every night. Man up fool. Stop supporting rapists and criminoles. Sober up and have some respect for yourself.
I'm sure you are pissing all over yourself while typing this crap Argusman!

Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, but in your case, no use crying over spilled milk eh?

BTW, you still smell like urine.

Could you post a Link to those figures because,--
While revenue generated by athletics continues to rise, it is being outpaced by expenses, according to an NCAA study of AthleticDeprtments budgets in 2014.

The report found that expenses exceeded revenue at all but 20 schools in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The average loss among the Power 5 conferences was $2.3 million. At all other FBS schools, it was $17.6 million.
