Who are we going to blame ?

The BCS committe?, the ND coaching staff ? the miscues by the players.? No matter ,we played poorly against 2 below average teams . No style points and they do count remembering how Ohio State jumped over TCU.
And as I have replied on another post .If Oklahoma( should have no trouble with Oklahoma State) jumps to the 3rd or 4th spot in the BCS , we will have trouble making the Final Four . And I'm assuming either Iowa or Michigan State (most likely ) gets the the last bid .

Die Hard Notre Dame fans are gonna go crazy this week with the posts . Let us all go crazy blaming everybody from the committee ,,to the coaches,to the players .

Then maybe all this angst is moot ,since we don't really do a lot on offense ( averaging about 90 rushing yards and about 18 points a game the last 5 years ) against Stanford ?

Finally , giving my take ,we can't put mediocre teams away, Virginia,Temple, Wake Forest (yes as everybody pointed ,our margin of victory was a little larger than Clemson's) and Boston College . And the last 2 games particularly the BC game cost us while Oklahoma and Michigan State were beating top 15 teams .

Saturday night would be a perfect time to play their best game of the year. They can go all out. There is no reason to hold back.right now if your ND , this is your championship. If they win and get in the playoff they have 5 weeks to prepare , refocus and get healthy. I don't know if they have enough left in the tank, I hope they do. But if they can come out hitting on all cylinders they can do it. There is no reason they should come out flat, none. Regardless of my earlier pessimistic posts, I would love nothing better than a win this weekend. The other stuff will work out one way or another.

There are coaches on the committee who will have respect for the Boston College defense (#1 total defense, #5 scoring defense) as well as the Wake Forest defense (#42 total defense, #47 scoring defense). Both defenses are ranked higher in Total Defense than the defenses for Stanford, Utah, UCLA, Oregon, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Baylor; all teams discussed by the media regarding the playoff and all ranked. Like they said on Mike & Mike this morning. Some of the committee point to how Wake Forest outgained ND. The facts are Wake Forest outgained ND but ND won by 21. Purdue outgained Iowa and Iowa won by 20. why does this not damage Iowa the way it damages ND?

The committee did mention that wake forest out gained ND. So I guess it can be inferred that at least one of them took that into consideration when evaluating ND. Question is, why does this metric not harm Iowa?

Then this committee needs to be gone ASAP. You can't punish a team for being outgained when they led the whole game (and won) by three TD's. ND also scored a defensive TD thus eliminating a chance at more yards. You play to win the game anyway; not outgain your opponent. That's tantamount to dinging a basketball team for having a worse free throw percentage but winning the game by 20 points.

My initial post is right on , ND posts came down hard on me because I didn't get the committee name CFP . Believe me I wish I was wrong . Now must move on and hope for a few upsets this weekend .
