Here we go again so the disparity in talent between the SEC and every one else is because they win championships , of course the NIL has a lot to do with it or maybe coaching and development over a four year period beats portal princess`s. ND was out weighted on the defensive line by over 30 lbs , but dominated. ND had twice the amount of penalty yards especially that BS illegal motion call
: therefore, zero argument from anyone. Gunner did not play a bad game even though he was constantly running for his life from our defensive ends .
Where are the five stars in the portal ND could use DT`s weighing in at 325 LBS basically space eaters.

I’ll take two if they’re available

Who knows if it will be true long term or not as the rules/etc will obviously change, but you would think the transfer portal/NIL would create more parity in CFB in that all of these players who would've been 2nd/3rd string at these schools and thus creating the depth they had to be as good as they were are now going to be at other schools. Those schools still have 5* players, but now they may not have the level of talent that they used to backing them up. I think it shows in that way more than anywhere else. ND may not use those tools as much as other schools, but it still benefits them in that the talent is more spread out now.

Not that I believe it will happen at this point, but I've seen multiple things today where people think Quinn Ewers will be the ND QB next year.

If you look at the team talent composite rankings, we are 9th in overall talent (I think), but 5th in average player rating. This means although we lack the 5 stars, we have a lot of highly rated 4 star players. Regardless of rating, our guys all put the team ahead of themselves. Clearly Georgia’s Players don’t, look at all the arrests and skipped classes.

Some just can’t read beyond headlines. This ND team is very talented…only lacking the burner at WR and the 350 DT…if we land one or two of of those in next couple years it will be nirvana
I think they have enough talent at receiver.. just not set up to get the ball down field with Riley.

Getting a couple more dominant tackles will be all the difference.

Imagine being able to get a rush with 4 guys and playing coverage with 7.. brackets doubles robber cloud coverage spies etc.

Would be nuts.

I think the thing with the portal is getting guys that even without a fancy HS recruiting pedigree, appear to have proven themselves to be quality D-1 players, and that's what you're looking for. Known commodities. So plenty of elite recruits go into the portal, but that's not really the name of the game. It's more about proven production. And you can always take fliers on younger players that haven't blossomed yet. And I don't know what the plan is at DT for the portal, but don't we need a couple?

Like with Mills Cross and Traore.....too bad 2 are out and 1 injured

This team is hanging on by a thread at DL. Is KVA coming back? Any assistance on the edge will be helpful down the stretch.

Onye quitting the team possibly?. Bothelo coming back thankfully. Should be ok with frontline guys Logan Thomas Bryce young maybe the freshman DT can contribute next season I think he EE.

Clemson won their titles because of a dominant DL and a QB and lots of average players with a couple playmaking receivers.

My point was that a dominant D line is really all this team needs.

But remember, they will have to be academically solid and know that they'll be expected to go to classes.

I felt that the D-LINE -- almost counter-intutively -- played BETTER than it had in a number of games Mills played in.

Its quickness and mobility NEUTRALIZED Georgia's O-Line's ALLEGED RAW POWER -- much of which DID NOT APPEAR to show up.

I think Golden's scheme was SUPERB, and the D-LINE simply went out and executed. So much so that I had to wonder WHERE WAS THIS KIND OF EDGE PRESSURE ALL SEASON? For it to show up in THIS GAME was remarkable.

Supposedly Georgia’s offensive line out weighed Notre Dame‘s defensive line by about 50 pounds per man.

I thought the defensive line played very well, and I agree with you they seem to have played better against Georgia than they have against most other teams

Let’s hope the trend continues next week ……… and the week after

Lack of depth on the interior was always a concern, edges have been solid. Junior T, Oben, Burnham, Bryce Young have done a great job. Down to Cross, Hinish and Rubio on the inside. Did any other players get snaps at DT?

Huge concern, we lost 2 guys and with our 3 guys left helped shut down Georgia 🤣🤣

You’re not concerned about a 3 man rotation at DT? 😂 wonder what NDs blitz % was from the LBs? You see all those big play slants? Linebackers leaving thr middle of the field to help out a maligned D front.

And yes, depth means losing a few guys and still playing at a high level- the staff dialed up LB all night to give 5/6 guys at the LOS. That shit won’t work against Oh St.

Hinish betting a lot of love for his end of game sack..it was his second tackle all night 😳

Yes depth means losing a few guys and playing at an elite level - exactly what we are doing. Thank you.

When you lose 2 DTs and still have 3 high quality DTs to rotate you have a luxury that not many teams in the country have.

If we want we can rotate Mukam or Sevillano in for 5 to 10 plays if needed. We have more but it's not necessary right now.

UGA’s rushing attack isn’t in the top 135, if they can hold up against the 16th ranked PSU rushing attack I’ll eat crow.

Whats more important than rotation is getting off the field and the offense sustaining drives. To my surprise ND had a 31-28 minute advantage in time of possession over UGA. The more you're able to get off the field and rest, the less a rotation is a concern.

They've played by far the toughest schedule in the country. So you have to factor that in

But your numbers are a little off. They are 102nd now. 96th before ND

And like I said, schedule

Indiana was 69th going into our game and we held up just fine against them too

Hinish may have only had two tackles but he was disruptive and took on double teams often. He played well as did the entire d-line. Same w/ Rubio, not a lot on the stat sheet but disrupted plays and forced ball carriers into our mostly unblocked lbs.

This is literally a one game season. Stats be dammed. Just go out let it fly. Push for that extra yard. Reach just a little bit more to make that catch. Tackle and hold on like a pit bull. Every play every down. Refuse to lose ! That’s how you win

Man, it is sure a lot to ask these kids! A 12 game season, then a 4 game playoff. Hell, ND kids start classes in a week and winter workouts soon! I feel for the NFL bound players like Mills who is now dealing with injury. And the Freshman who are used to playing what 9 games?!

Not sure the alternative. Maybe cut Championship games? Go back to an 11 game season? In the end $$$ will talk.

That said, I'll be at the Orange Bowl cheering on our boys! Go Irish. Two more.

I think that they need to dial the regular season back to 11 games.

just too many games for the teams competing; too much for those kids

That’s lost revenue. That will never happen.

The NFL is soon going to an 18 game regular season. Why? Money.
