If you read is scouting report I'm very excited about him. He looks very athletic for 295 lbs.
a good DT, he won't be the crasher to get the QB, but he will hold that line and be solid. He could be the Leonard Marshall to L.T. ! All the staff needs to do now is go get an "LT" !!!!! Should be no problem, right.
great get as he'll be a beast. we should be getting sam's younger brother who is a top five rated DT in the 2018 and so we should be set for a while on the d-line

you got dupped into reading something into a post that was not there and certainly not negative. The kid is the kind of physical player that will not be blown away by the likes of the Bama lineman.
He is not seen as a great pass rusher; at least that is not something said as yet.

I has mentioned several times, I often look at recruiting in pairs; and I mentioned the Marshall compare - if a guy like Kaindoh comes in then the supplement is complete! As you know LM an LT had pretty fair careers!

I think cool9 and others who read and follow recruiting are not saying he cannot pressure the passer but that the scouting report does not mention that as currently his strength. All that means is he is not seen yet as an elite pass rush DT.

What is the big deal? It really doesn't matter when Ohio State and Michigan beat ND in recruiting every year.
He's likely looked at as a back-up for Urban. At ND he'll start. That's why he picked ND. And that's why ND is constantly behind the big boys like Bama and OSU. Poor coaching by Kelly and the fact he plays 2nd stringers against first stringers.
^ gotta disagree aside from tOSU and Bama, this is a kid that plays for Top 12 type teams. It is hard to compare a kid that will go to classes and have academic obligations to a kid that will be a full time, (training and getting deer antler juice) football player. He downside is good and in the right role he could be outstanding.
can we all just agree that our irish got an elite DT that'll help our irish stay in playoff contention year after year

Damn, you guys are tempting me to read a Perse post while I have him on ignore. I know Perse spews his non stop crap about ratings and he often finds a way to spin a positive into a negative, but he does appreciate talent, and I can't imagine Perse not appreciating Ewell. This is a big time player with a great offer sheet, and a huge pick up by ND. Exactly what we need to compliment our incoming freshmen DEs.
He had standing offers from Bama & Clemson, the two teams who played in the title game last year. Were OSU or UM in the playoff last year?

Yep, watches film and reads scouting reports, and thinks this elevates his opinions above anyone with a differing opinion, including D-1 coaches. I don't miss his nonsense, but still find it hard to believe even Perse could come up with a negative spin over a great pick up.

Just like Jaylon though, you need to put talent up there with him. If ND gets or finds the outside guys that can get a good rush on the QB this guy can be a pile mover. That is same for MacColl. These are guys that can push the pile towards the QB, they probably won't get great sack #'s but are the kind of guys that help create the sack or rush.
It has been a while since opponents QB's have been under consistant pressure. Additionally, something that will likely go unnoticed is they have the physicality to keep offensive lineman off the LBers. Too often we see the ND LBer with an OG on them.

Trust me that temptation will pass. I've had him on ignore for so long that I didn't even remember his handle until you just mentioned it.
of course as a 17 year their is zero chance that he grows both mentally and physically and becomes and even more dominant player. no chance of that at all.
