The 17th-ranked Notre Dame women’s basketball team couldn’t close on a road victory at No. 15 Duke on Sunday.
The Irish led by nine points early in the fourth quarter, but Duke rallied for a 72-70 victory.
Duke senior Elizabeth Balogun, who led all scorers with 27 points, logged the last four points of the game in the final 1:07 to secure the victory. Her layup with 30 seconds remaining gave the Blue Devils the lead for good.
Notre Dame missed three shots in the final 12 seconds in an attempt to tie or win the game. Graduate senior forward Maya Dodson, who led the Irish with 26 points, couldn’t get either of her last two shots to fall.
