Wake Forest is better than most think

They are 29th in offensive efficiency and 22nd in defensive efficiency. Overall, 18th in the country.

Miami is 17th, Stanford 19th.

In the eyes of the committee, this will be a quality win if we do in fact win and further our strength of schedule and resume.
If ND beats Wake they are going to end up at best 8-4, but probably 7-5... Need to avoid the let down but this is not a quality win in the big scheme of things. Committee is going to want to look at T25, T15, T10 wins etc...

WF is a good team, but haven't faced a team like ND. Much like NCSt.
We will expose their weaknesses.

And lets not forget the Elko and Lea connection. They should have some valuable insight into how we can take advantage of some of their defensive alignments/personnel.
Elko is not some scheme master.

He's not breaking some new ground with a 46 defense or a zone blitz.

No No No.

What Elko has done is implemented sound defensive football once again. Reading and reacting.

We don't have three guys in a diamond formation covering ONE reciever.

We don't have players confused therefore going at half speed.

It's absolutely no mystery what we do on defense. We line up mostly in a 4-3 or some type of nickel with occasional blitzes.

We play hard and fast now because everyone knows exactly WTF is going on and equally as important is the fundamentals. We are 100 times better fundamentally.
It's amazing to me how anyone(BVG) could think our fundamentals were good. They were the worst I've ever seen.

Jaylon...was amazing. Loved Jaylon Smith. Fundamentally he was bad. Just an incredible athlete and could make up for it.

Coney is a great example. Coney and Morgan both would just guess on a running play between the tackles and shoot a gap. Instead of sliding the feet with the back and meeting him in the hole which is exactly how ALL of our linebackers play now.

That is Elko. No mystery. No secrets. Line up, read and react. Don't guess.

Play hard. Swarm. Attack. Do not gamble. Play under control.

That's Elko.

. The committee stated in 2015 that they look favorably over wins over power five teams with winning records. A big win over Wake Forest would help ND.

Wake Forest lost their top receiver and top all purpose yardage man for the season. The game just got a bit easier.

They also lost Bates, their top safety. Go Stepherson.

As BK said in the locker room of the NCST game, the goal is not to win, its to dominate.

It may help b/c it is not a loss, but it is not going to be a signature win / or even one of ND's best 5 wins by the end of the season. The game is important b/c each win gets ND one step close to winning but its not going to help the resume the same way USC, Michigan St, NC State have or the same way Miami, Stanford or even Navy will.
