Vegas sets ND wins at 9.5

Texas: W
Nevada: W
MSU: Push
Duke: W
Syracuse: W
NC State: W
Stanford: Push
Miami: W
Navy: W
Army: W
VT: W
USC: Push

split the 'push' games

10.5 wins.

This schedule looks pretty terrible. And even with undefeated season ND is going to have to pray for a playoff spot.

A 12-0 ND team will always get a playoff spot. There would have to be four undefeated conference champs to keep us out.

Last year 11-1 would have got us in if we would have smashed BC like we should have & not poop the bed against Stanford.

The only teams with higher over/unders are:
Alabama 10
Clemson 10.5
Boise St. 10.5
Michigan 10
Oklahoma 10
LSU 10

Ridiculous. If ND goes 12-0, we are in.

12 & 0 will get most teams into the playoffs.

13 & 0 is a lock.

12-0 is a 100% stone cold lock for any P5 team and damn near for any G5 team as well

There has never been 4 undefeated teams in the same year in modern football

While I generally agree there is always a first. Used to say a freshman would never win the Heisman too. Never say never especially in CFB.

The only game ND could lose on this schedule and still end up in the playoff would be Michigan State if Michigan State ran the table in the Big 10. Otherwise a loss to Stanford or SC would happen to late in the season to recover.

I think ND will be undefeated at home to Stanford. If ND looks good to that point ND will beat Stanford and have to hope USC is in meltdown mode by the time the Irish hit California.

probably the best / safest guess would be 9 W's
The schedule is definitely beatable. But with young teams efforts ebb and flow off emotion.
W/luck: 10+
W/O luck 9

Why would we want USC in meltdown mode. Lets kick their behinds at full strength. If we do, and that caps an undefeated season, I can see us in the #1 or #2 spot.

Well yes I see your point....regardless the USC is a must win game. ND could be undefeated going to USC and if they lose there none of it will matter.

That is true, but if we need USC to be in meltdown mode to beat them......we aint making any noise in the playoffs anyway.

12-0 is the only goal.....by any means.

Interesting that Washington was at the top of the Pac-12 list.

I'd take the under on Baylor right now!

I wonder what Baylor is at now & how many people bet the under before the line got changed?

I would not look past a Mark Richt coached Miami team, I'd take the under, ND lost a lot. 8-4 seems to love CBK.

I think teams that are 11-1 with a big conference championship win are going to have a tough resume to beat.

ND is playing the worst teams in the ACC this year (minus Miami).

Texas & USC are down right now.

Stanford and MSU have had great teams of recent and we are going to have to pull for them and hope they are top 10 teams this year. With their mediocre recruiting a down year is always a good probability.

ND needs to go undefeated and leave no doubt in their wins this season. This schedule is really bad.

Nevada, NC State, Duke, Navy, Army, Syracuse, Virginia Tech ..

Normally ND has maybe 2 or 3 teams of this quality on the schedule .. this year they have 7 of them.

The same Mark Richt who got booted from Georgia because he couldn't win the very weak SEC East lately with all the talent in the country?
The same CBK team that took a garbage undefeated team to a title game & won 10 games last year with the most injuries to starters in recorded history? Losing all 3 games away from home to the #2, #3, & #4 ranked teams in the final polls by an average of 6 points?

I like ND's chances over Miami. Big time.

ND going 12-0 leaves literally no discussion with any 11-1, at all, under any circumstances......that's just the way it is

And an 11-1 ND is probably in as well ... but the circumstances are far more important there

10-2 ND has basically no hope of making the CFB Playoffs

there are some certainties and a 12-0 ND team is in the playoffs no matter what. You somehow feel the need to argue really stupid things sometimes.

In 2012, we were in trouble when undefeated in week 10. Alabama, Kansas State, and Oregon were in front of us in the BCS standings and all, fortunately, suffered stretch run losses. Granted the new playoff has changed things, but at that time an undefeated ND was struggling to get into the title game late in the season....

If if if. Those things didn't happen because Kelly is a poor in-game coach.

sometimes I wonder if you really are all there. There are now 4 playoff teams. So your usual idiotic whining about 4 years ago is more MEANINGLESS then usual.

by the way we were not in trouble- as usual your pathological need to blame Kelly for every ill on earth screws up what little intelligence you still possess. All those teams except Alabama were going to lose games as anyone except you seemed to see.

and even if there were 4 undefeated conference champions the odds are one of them had a weaker schedule or the conference itself was weak. So the odds of that NOT happening are about as good as a meteor hitting earth tomorrow and ending everything.

What was ND ranked in the "struggle" you describe?
(at 10-0)

Would that ranking have gotten ND into a 4 team playoff?

What was ND ranked when we reached 12-0?

Just thoughts to get the important, relevant information out in the open

I wouldn't pin the Stanford game on Kelly.
That would be squarely on BVG rushing three & Mathias Farley blowing coverage. If not for those two mistakes by the defense in the final 30 seconds we are sitting at 11-1 with a 2 point loss on the road to the #1 team despite having the most injuries to starters in recorded history.

If anyone has a legit option for a better coach who is interested in the job, I will gladly listen?

Many ND alum/students/fans/other were worried about a stacked deck as the AP, Coaches and BCS all had us as the lowest ranked undefeated team at 4 in week 10. (ohio state was also undefeated, but banned from bowl participation)

Having 'bama, Kansas State and Oregon all lose was fortuitous.

Stanford did a 17-14 number on high flying Oregon. Of course, you saw that coming. Oregon scored 645 points for the year and was coming off a 3 week stretch of 70 vs CO, 62 vs southern cal and 59 vs Cal.
57, 42, 63, 49, 51, 52, 43, 70, 62, 59, 48, 35

"Kansas State vs. Baylor 2012: Bears shock the football world, crush No. 1 Wildcats, 52-24" The impact of this game will be felt across the country for years. The National Championship race is completely different. The Heisman race is completely different. The entire scope of college football in the 2012 season is different. Because the 4-5 Baylor Bears shocked the world." "Baylor had not beaten an opponent ranked as high since 1957, when the Bears defeated No. 2 Tennessee, 13-7, in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day. Baylor also tied No. 1 Texas during the 1941 season." Bovada had Kansas State as 13 pt favorites....

...but of course you as a football savant saw it coming....

Oh, and kelly's biggest post season win remains the Music city Bowl. Yippeeee!

Fans always forget it isn't just about SOS. A better record (13-0 vs 12-0) and/or a better average MOV can also tip the scale.
