The question that needs an answer

If he was injured, he had no business playing. Especially after seeing that the kid couldn't throw the ball
Now I certainly don't know if he was hurting or not. That said some players will not let on when they're hurting. Only Leonard knows for sure how he feels.

We keep discussing this across many threads. Even we amateurs know Freeman and Denbrock called a terrible game plan. Exactly: they put it on the legs and arms of a Leonard who did worse as the game dragged.

I remain amazed.

I'm a big fan of the Croatia NT in soccer. Stubborn coach who sticks with older accomplished players. But after a disastrous Euro tournament, he's making changes...even him.

Some coaches in the sports I follow can't. Happens all too often. And these are pros. Freeman is one of them apparently.
Oh yeah, didn't we totally argue about the Croatian MNT, and it all started because I casually, off the cuff mocked Luke Modric because of how ugly he is, and you didn't like that one bit? I have some vague memory on this message board of doing that. And he totally won the ballon d'or even though he probably shouldn't have, but that's just how admired he is as one of the truly great players of his generation? But he is ugly.

Agree, but ND coaches know this is the leonard they expected or someone completely different. Both/either should have resulted in changes made.

Meh. I don't argue about looks nor get offended by those who do.

;)

The point stands about coaching stubbornness in any sport. Some coaches can't make in game, never mind long term adjustments. Some evolve to do this.

I don't believe MF can move fast enough from a weak foundation here.

Well if I was Croatia's coach I would be hesitant to move on from that team as well. They had Modric, and a great core of players that achieved some pretty big success. I can't fault him for that. I don't know what MF's going to do. It's not thet bad necessarily. Maybe we'll go 10-2 and squeak into the playoff. But in the immediate moment the prospects are suddenly not so bright anymore.

I've never sympathized with his purported run first philosophy, that's just me. And he's got Denbrock now, who's comfortable with a more aggressive passing attack. But I don't figure there'll be any philosophical changes this season, whatever happens.

Each sports has its nuances. Each team has its specific situation.

Soccer puts a premium on stamina. I love Modric, but he can't run. Period. The coach is making a huge mistake...something his club Real Madrid doesn't do, having him come off the bench. Coach Dalic is misreading capability, not selecting the optimal lineup, and producing less than optimal game plan.

Freeman is making coaching mistakes. Run 1st however doesn't bother me. Wish we saw more Saturday. ND for many reasons is natural with that. Denbrock for some reason didn't got with it consistently in the loss...never mind that irresponsible killer INT up 1 point while driving.

BTW: if you are interested, Croatia has a GREAT pipeline of young players. Gvardiol is one of the better backs in the world at 22. For whatever reason, Croatia produces the best talent per capita.
