The other concern is that if it seems clear or generally clear that Brian Kelly is on the hot seat, no well-respected defensive coordinator is going to want to jump aboard a sinking ship.

the problem will be that Kelly is now justifiably being placed under scrutiny. Anyone who is willing to listen to a ND pitch or is available, will weigh that heavily in their decision process. Do you really want to ally yourself with a head coach who is on the downslide?

Once the buck starts getting passed and the blame game and finger pointing starts it rarely gets a favorable resolution short of 'cleaning house'.
