Every alum/season ticket holder holds blame for this loss. This was a home game for UGA. Of all the games I've attended over the last 40 years, this is the most pathetic I've seen. So all of you, and I"m sure there are some on this board, should be ashamed of yourself selling out for the money.

Well, they sure eliminated the home field advantage. Pretty disgraceful. Wish the university had some Buy back program at prevailing rates to sell to ND fans on a waiting list, and if need be, to donate to local kids, etc... anything to prevent an invasion like we witnessed from Georgia, and Nebraska a ways back.

Huh? How is this my fault?

If you are to believe Reggie Brooks, he said that should have no affect on the performance of the players as the players should be totally involved and focused on their duties and the game. He also said that the players who are actually playing should not have the time or awareness to be looking up in the stands during a game. I have to believe though, this was not good for the recruits to see in person and with the red sticking out like a sore thumb, how could players not notice it?

Another excuse for the Kelly worshippers.

Look at you, making more excuses. So ND can't win road games either?

Why should we have to play a road game at home? That's even worse, when you're at home you expect your fans to be there an support you, not sell out! You don't think that affected player moral?

Whether it had a hand in the outcome of the game or not it was an embarrassment.
I was there, and I concur it's a disgrace and complete embarrassment. I understand free market, but in this case I wish those other season ticket holders should be held accountable in some way.

I was at the game as well and we were surrounded. Georgia fans to our right, Georgia fans in front of us, and Georgia fans sitting directly behind us. It was as if we were the away fans. Absolutely disgraceful to those that sold their tickets and were not at least responsible enough to sell them to other ND fans. No matter what anyone says I absolutely believe this contributed to the outcome of the game. Those Georgia players were WAY to comfortable inside the stadium. It was a hell of an effort by our team though despite all of this.

Word to the wise.
If you listen to the fans. You sit with the fans!

This is a business. If there is one team in college football who should know it's Notre Dame. Got your own television network. No one else does. Elected not to go conference alignment, that is a business decision. Maybe it works maybe it doesn't.
Fans selling tickets for over $1,000.00. That's business.

I read somewhere else on this board that getting that little extra money for selling this tix is not life altering. I understand the struggles of today as I'm a middle class man with a wife and two sons. I don't struggle but I surely don't have tons of money to waste either. That being said making an extra $800 on a tix isn't going to make or break me and some on this board trying to defend themselves are making it appear that way.

This has nothing to do with business. The majority of people selling their tickets were season ticket holders who have to pay a large donation fee for their seats. While these tickets were going for a lot of money it's not as if they're actually making a profit based on what they paid in total for the season. Presumably when you buy season tickets it's because you love the school and want to see the majority of the home games. Which is why it's baffling to me why so many of these people sold out.

I should rephrase that, those that sold their tickets. Which were obviously the majority of season ticket holders. Just curious 78, did you go to the game?
It's not remotely close to "the majority" of season ticket holders. There was a lot of red in the stadium. It's a very noticeable bold vibrant color. What color was Georgia's opponents' fans wearing? Huhhhh, can't really tell. I'll give you a flavor. I had on a gold ND UA 3/4 zip, my wife had on a white/green/navy shirt, my daughter had on a white ND football shirt #10, and her boyfriend had on a navy ND polo. Imagine, if you would, that all of us, and EVERY person in the stadium not wearing red was wearing gold. Gold shirts, gold hats, everything gold. Another noticeable vibrant color. It would look like it probably really was Saturday night, roughly 62,000 to 65,000 ND fans and 15,000 to 18,000 Georgia fans. That's not to discount that Georgia got 8,000 tickets from ND and had at least double that many fans in the stadium. That's impressive. But this idea that it was 50/50 or 60/40 is ludicrous. It's because it's RED, just like it was with Nebraska in 2000. Why could you tell there were so many Texas fans a couple years ago? Because burnt orange is a very bold distinct color. Why can't you tell how many Michigan or FSU fans are in the stadium when we play them? Because navy blue and maroon (i know it's actually garnet) are not distinctive bold colors.

I am not saying this is a non-issue, but there's much ado being made over a minor issue. On to BC.

Agree with your premise, but totally disagree on your numbers. I was there as well and that stadium was a minimum 40% UGA fans

No way in hell there were 30,000 or more UGA fans. Not even close. You are fooled by the optics.

Oh yes there was, it just wasn't because they were wearing read. Eveywhere around campus it was one huge Georgia tailgate after anoher. You couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a group of Georgia fans.

If athletes at this level are truly adversely affected by opposing fans, they shouldn't be playing at this level. The whole concept that we lost the game because Georgia fans attended the game is silly. The suggestion that "true" ND fans shouldn't sell their tickets is even sillier. Football is entertainment. Hell, if I were lucky enough to get tickets to see Hamilton on Broadway, I'd still sell them for the right price. Everybody and everything has a price.

Where did I even mention Kelly? FYI, we lost by one point, I'm sure if one play went another way there would be a completely different narrative from you. Typical knee jerk emotional fan I see here.

You didn't need to mention Kelly, you said the fans were to blame for the loss, absolving the coaching blunders, and you call 8 years of Kelly coaching mistakes a knee jerk reaction?

Fans like you keep Kelly employed at ND.

These fans had every right to sell their tickets based on the quality of the product put out there each year. When Kelly stops posting 4-8 records and can actually win against a quality opponent, maybe these fans will attend without the worry of sitting there in disbelieve regarding the game plan and personnel decisions.

Fellas. I hate to tell you this, but, it will happen again. Look at future opponents and you can almost predict the game which the stadium will be invaded. It's not the end of the world if we were Purdue, but, we are not. I don't know how this affected the recruits in attendance. You'd have to ask them off the record. It shouldn't bother the players because they are playing for each other, maybe their position coaches, certainly themselves and their families, and the student body. I seriously doubt they are playing for the average Joe fan or the high roller alum. I'm not even sure they are playing for Jenkins, Jack, or BK himself. The fan base could be wearing skin tone mice fur outer ware and it should not affect the players. What happened with Nebraska , Georgia, and to a lesser extent...The Vols is not the end of the world but it is really really embarrassing. The loss to Georgia will only fuel the snide comments from the media and opponents alike.

From my minimal experience as an amateur athlete (back in the day) I agree with Mr Brooks - if a player is really focused on the game (as he should be) he should not let anything in the stands affect his game.

Recruits? Not a positive message I guess.

I certainly understand your viewpoint. I do think fans are speaking up. They sold their tickets because they've had enough of the BS from the coach and his bosses. Fans want ND football to be great and stand for something. They aren't great and the only thing it " seems" to stand for is profit. Whatever happened to excellence in the clasroom and on the field? That doesn't exist anymore. Now it's " good try men, well get'em next time". Empty seats aren't far off. As a matter of fact I'm sure it will happen this year. The sell out streak ends. I don't care if it was close. They lost. They are 1 for 10 against the last 11 ranked teams they faced. Let that sink in. The players deserve better. I doubt anything will change as long as people continue to go to the games and buy their product. But if ND keeps losing, people will stay home. Maybe then, a change might occur. Maybe! I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah moron they can win road games, but playing at home shouldn't feel like one. You don't bring a team in at night for that environment

IMO it felt more like a neutral sight/bowl game. Close match up and could have gone either way. Winning wouldn't have destined ND to the playoffs and losing doesn't mean ND will miss a bowl game this year.

Noted college football fan Rudyard K chimes in:

"If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same..."

Vegas doesn't think so, They add about 3 point for home field. Not sure that's all about the fans though so maybe he is right.

Stay classy. I bet you wouldn't talk like that to my face.

The crowd was 50/50. There was nothing stopping ND from winning that game. You're just defending a garbage coach.

I guess the team is mentally weak then.

It would've motivated me, but I'm in my 30's. Kids these days are mentally fragile. Just look at who is apart of ANTIFA.

The crowd was 50/50, btw. I'm sorry. I truly am, but I'm sick and tired of Brian Kelly and the direction this program is going. I took a stand by selling my tickets.

Why won't you and others hold Jack accountable for the way this program has become a joke? Yet you're so willing to come after people who sold their tickets. I smell hypocrisy.

It wasn't about the money. It's about my disgust with Jack and Kelly.

What an idiotic post! What the hell does ANTIFA have to do with this? Why not reference the age of the nazis who protested? You took a stand by selling [your] ticket? I call BS. You sold your tickets (assuming you really have them) because you could make a buck on them and then watch the game on TV. If this were true, then I suspect that you would support Colin Kapernek for taking a stand on what he perceives as racism in America. Do you?
