What’s the ratio of targeting calls on offensive ball carriers versus tackling defenders ?
Why do ball carriers drop and lead with their helmet prior to coming into contact with a tackler, yet they never get called for targeting !
The reduction of head injuries is and should be a major concern, but almost every ball carrier who is about to come into contact with a tackler, coming head-on at him, lowers his head and leads with the “crown of his helmet”
Yet, I’ve never seen a targeting call against a ball carrier that leads with the crown of his helmet, WHY ?
If the reduction of head injuries is the goal of the NCAA, why don’t they prohibit ball carriers from leading with the crown of their helmet ?
