Notre Dame's Jadin O'Brien finished Friday's first four events in the lead of the seven-event heptathlon at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
O'Brien, a three-time NCAA indoor national champion in the pentathlon, totaled 3,710 points through four events. Oklahoma's Pippi Lotta Enok is 25 points back in second place. Notre Dame's Alaina Brady is in sixth with 3,413 points.
O'Brien won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.33 seconds and the shot put with a throw of 14.44 meters. She finished sixth in the 200-meter dash in 24.11 and 11th in the high jump at 1.69 meters.
The final three events of the heptathlon will begin Saturday at 6:30 p.m. EDT with the long jump followed by the javelin and 800-meter run.
