Spot on.. how in the hell did Jack Saw brick give BK a 6 year extension - 6 f...king years ! The BK agent told Jack that NFL teams were interested in BK. Any NFL GM only had too watch BK butcher the Tulsa, Northwestern, N.C., Louisville, Stanford last season ending, games etc. To realize he was not a NFL head coach and Jack S. Could of very easily called the agents bluff.

Plus the simple fact NO head coach for ND had lasted more than 11 years made it very simple for Jack to counter with no.more than a 4 year extension. Could of made it a lot easier to sever ties w/ a ext. That was only 4 years vs. 6 yrs.

Jack Saw brick needs to be fired. He is Kevin White 2.0

ND doesn't even start capital projects until the money is 100% committed and something like 80% in the bank. The Crossroads project is already paid for.

Bingo. JS is being evaluated on how well all ND athletics as a whole are doing. Women's hoops, men's soccer, lacrosse, probably throw fencing and hockey in there as well, etc. are all suddenly as important (or maybe even more important) than the football team.

As long as there's no real difference between the money that comes in if the football team is 8-5 vs. 13-0, Swarbrick is just fine.

HB - points well taken and I think I you are right - as far as the overall (competative) success of all sports within the athletic department.

BUT the financial success of the football program is what supports those other sports which generally do not generate enough money to pay for themselves (coaching staff salaries, scholarships, equipment, travel expenses etc.).

I assume at any major college, sports like soccer, swimming, tennis, golf, baseball, wrestling, track and field (and a number of others) depend heavily upon the financial success of the FB program to keep themselves going. All those sports (with the possible exception of basketball - at least at some colleges) depend upon the revenues generated from the school's football program for their continued existence.

If revenues generated by the FB program drop off significantly, I can see where that could possibly affect other sports at ND.

Toby S. I haven't quit on ND - its players or other fans - because of the losses - I am done w/ their coach Brian Kelly. I would have no problem w/ the losses if the team coached by BK played well, was disciplined, fundamentally sound and had lost to teams that we were supposed to beat us. There is no shame in losing when you put up a great fight against a better opponent and lose. In fact, it shows great character and that you are a well coached team even in defeat.

My problem is that all 5 losses have been to teams where we have had better overall talent - where we have been favored in all 5 losses. Where we have lost because the entire team was not prepared to play whether it was the defense, offense, special teams, etc. Where the overall coaching has been abysmal. The lack of tackling fundamentals to start the season, etc. Just flat out not prepared to play and compete in games. And I then also factor in how our coach has thrown ND players under the bus at press conferences after losses more than once. Any good coach worth his salt does not throw his players under the bus at a press conference. A good coach talks to his players like a man in the locker room or at practice about things he does not like or agree with. He keeps it "in house". BK's excuse making is nauseating and his throwing of players under the bus in a press conference is bush league.

And lastly when I factored in his other 6 seasons as the head coach and count at least 1 or sometimes 2 losses minimum in 5 of the 6 other seasons (2012 the one exception) where we lost and had the better team - I am done going to ND games as long as BK is the coach. Whether I watch them on TV - it is no longer a priority for me on a Sat. I have better things to do than watch an underachieving coached ND football team. I will tape the games and whether I watch it at a later time - I have no idea if I will or not.

I hope the players do well - I hope a lot of them get drafted again into the NFL like last season. And I hope most importantly they all get their degree's.

It's his lack of game time adjustments and goofball decisions that doesn't give this team a chance to win. And, the BVG decisions should have been made at the end of last season. With all that, the players are my focus and what little I can offer as a fan, I have their back. That's all I can do.

I'm proud to say I won't buy anymore merchandise from ND until the admin. stop$ trashing the program. I won't spend another dollar on tickets until Kelly is gone. It's my choice. I'm done being a sucker so ND brass can laugh all the way to the bank after going 3-9 this year and 5-7 next.

Respect that Toby and good post as well from you. BK has done some good things - he has shown you can still recruit at a pretty high level to ND. When its time for him to finally be gone - I firmly believe a quality coach who wants the challenge of turning ND back into a contender will come to the fore front and become our next coach.

The big knock on ND prior to CW and BK was that ND could no longer recruit - CW started to change that myth w/ Manti and others - BK has continued that good recruiting - he unfortunately has not been a good developer of that talent he has recruited and his game day coaching decisions have been below average for someone who was supposed to be a high quality College Football Coach.

BK has had 6 years to prove himself. He unfortunately is not the man to take ND to the next level.

(To give someone else a chance as the Head Coach of Notre Dame) The "Time is Now" quote is being stolen from Willie Townsend (Mike Townsend's brother) - Willie made that statement prior to the 1973 undefeated season. It is actually quoted in the 1974 ND college year book next to the team picture.
