So who's DK replacement?

The risk is we lose one of the other three when they are not named the starter in 2025. Portal and sign someone with potential for sure is needed.

I saw the name Bryce Baker in another thread. He's currently committed to UNC.

Top 150 or so, ranked in the ballpark if 10th QB nationally. 6'2, live arm, + athlete.

Kind of reminded me of Minchey.

Every QB wants to play now and avoid competition if possible. I say let all QB's transfer wherever they want, most will go dead in the portal and wished they had stayed put where they were at.

If nothing else we could always reactivate Buchner and have four for next year. And maybe he wins the starting job.....
I would actually do that.

If Tyler Buchner is our 3 or 4.....I'm good with it. Less than 2 years ago, he was MVP of a bowl game, vs an SEC Team.

If injuries at Qb nail us, and we're in a pinch- play Buchner and have a wild package where he and the RB run like crazy.

Buchner to Faison would be epic!

I feel like he was wasted. Someone should have talked him out of transferring. This should have been his year. And it sucks, he's clearly a ND guy, and he blew it. HIs situation is like the only time so far where I feel like a little bit of visceral frustration with all the new rules and freedoms.

Go back and look at his Bama game film, ugly. That being said his career was wasted by having Rees as his coach.

I don't know man. We all love TB, but he just can't throw.

Not according to Sam Hartman who said he envied TB's arm.
Just google his HS highlight and it's one of the most impressive arms you're ever going to see. True phenom arm talent. His problem I would assume is, when playing CFB when you don't just get to make throws in your own natural rhythm and comfort zone, and you have to make all these precise throws within the context of a disciplined offense, that's where he's struggled. And it would appear he's apprehensive and doesn't throw with the same effortless snap and velocity he did when he was a kid. He hasn't been able to harness his raw talent into a streamlined, mature QB who can actually 'make all the throws' for real.

So maybe he's just not psychologically cut out for it. It's a tough position in sports as everyone knows. But it's ironic because theoretically he's a better version of RL. Even a better runner, or at least even more purely athletic. And I would say without question more arm talent. Maybe not as rugged. But still very similar skill set.

Okay that dude from Hawaii is who we got to go for. He's a lefty, so that's good, that's a straight swap for DK. And according to his 247 scouts' write-up, he could have the strongest arm in the country, which after checking out his HS highlights, I could believe. For such a fairly slight of build dude he appears to have a remarkably strong arm. Almost weirdly so.

So yeah, he's the guy. He's already committed to Cal, so you figure his grades/character are at least passable.

Agree- the HS tape was awesome. I couldn't believe the 1st time I watched it.

Then he came here and it was clear he just couldn't throw at a level required to beat great teams. It wasn't close.

Hartman was a really good guy. Very complimentary of all things ND. Not surprised he had good things to say about Tyler. We all do.

You think Hartman would swap out arms with TB? No way.

I was with you right up until you said TB is a better runner than RL. I think RL is an exceptional athlete at 6'4 (Buchner is as well at 6'1) and has the chance to take it house every time he touches it. Both are excellent young men and represent ND well.

What film? He played one game, a total of 4 starts in his CFB career. And was one was at Ohio St. in game 1.

I expect at least 2 QBs from OSU's roster to hit the transfer portal after the season. My guess would be Air Noland and Lincoln Kienholz. Julian Sayin and Devin Brown will compete for the starting role in 2025. Both Noland and Kienholz can be dual-threat QBs. Having a year of development under Chip Kelly and Day should have them ready to compete for a starting position. Kienholz is currently a sophmore and Noland is a true freshman.

OSU has one of the top high school QBs in the nation, Tavien St. Clair, coming in the 2025 class.

Julian Sayin sucks. He ain't gonna amount to shit.

I’ve heard we are making a push for the SMU qb commit
Yeah. I want the dude from Cal, the other they mentioned. Strongest arm in the country. He's samoan. From Hawaii. The same neighborhood as Tua Tagavailoa. And he's a lefty too.

Read on another site Bowen and Gino are going to visit an “unnamed” QB this weekend. All things being equal, I’d go visit the Cal commit for a nice long visit. Hawaii on ND’s dime ain’t too bad.
