So, Now That The Season Is about to Begin...

Who will be the new HC next season? This is an exciting time for ND football as we can now have hope for better play calling, game preparedness and humility. The finger pointing at 18 year old kids will stop. No more 2 pt conversion tries up by 11. No more shotgun snaps in hurricanes. No more unnecessary Fake FG's. No more prized QB's transferring. No more RKG's who turn out to be WKG's. No more QB's on bench called in cold to run a QB sneak and fumble. No more losses to teams like USF. No more bad staff hires. No more interviewing with NFL teams before the biggest game in decades. No more QB option plays with Rees (all-time favorite). No more purple faced tirades. Just no more excuses.

The Kelly Fan's will be sad but ND Football Fans will celebrate. Sometimes it is necessary to go backwards to go forwards. Now I know the Kelly fans will jump on this thread stating that I am no fan of ND if I wish for a bad season. Let them. I don't have to wish for this. Kelly will Sh&t the bed all on his own. But at least the insanity will end. No more "New Normal". Us older fans remember when there was dignity, logic, accountability and professionalism when it came to ND's head coach (Ara, Devine, Holtz). It is one thing to be a bad-mediocre football program. But to also be a laughingstock and the butt of jokes because the HC is a clown makes it so much worse.

So one more year of misery and there will be hope again!!! Ding Dong the Wicked Witch is Just About Dead.

At this point Brian Kelly though if things go bad I am not sure if Bob Stoops would be interested in coaching here

Bob Stoops won't coach again. I do believe this is Kelly's last year whether ND goes 5-7 or 11-1.

Unfortunately 4 coaches since Holtz w/o forward progress who can the Irish expect to get with a quality resume, and a system that would work with type of young men ND can get?

I guess the logic just flew over your head. Because you're not very intelligent let me speak to you in an analogy. If you have a baseball team for example the Mets which really doesn't have a future with its current roster, you turn the team over and rebuild. Yes you're going to suffer some painful seasons but in the end success will hopefully come your way. And Notre Dame's case I'm willing to sacrifice one more terrible season so that the football team is not a laughing stock throughout the nation. Get it now? Do you need any more clarification?

Basically, you want Kelly to get fired or quit or slip on a banana peel. However, the greater good, will be served by the team going 3 and 9 to 6-6. You sound like a liberal. It would be difficult for the Irish to turn that around.

It might hurt you to learn that Kelly is not going anywhere next year, regardless. They just brought in two top coordinators who will leave if Kelly leaves, spent millions on the stadium which Kelly helped raise, & currently has a top recruiting class. ND is not going to lose more money, coordinators, & recruits, for a coach that took ND to its ONLY BCS title game, then another BCS game with a skeleton team, with no other top coach interested...just because of FAKE ND fans like you. No one cares about you.

Kelly or no Kelly? If Kelly fails this year the ramifications may take several years to overcome, with committed recruits leaving, having to hire a new coaching staff etc. If you dislike Kelly, how about rooting for ND to go 14-0 and for Kelly to retire going out a big winner with a tremendous recruiting class coming. Success breads success. For those of you that like Kelly, how about rooting for Kelly to go 14-0 and bringing ND to its rightful spot atop the college football world. If you could care less about Kelly, but love the Irish, how about rooting for the ND to 14-0 because as fans that's what we do. Go Irish!

14-0 is unrealistic with a new offense, new defense, new qb, and the same old Kelly. 0-4 is more likely and might force a needed change before the season ends.

I didn't say it was realistic. My point was that WE are all Irish fans and should root for 14-0 versus not pulling for Kelly in hopes we tank and he is forced to leave.

Oh Notre Dame...where we insist coaches get fired after a single losing season and give other coaches 10 year extensions for ALMOST winning a game.

At least I didn't say this. Might have thought a few of these disjointed thoughts, but didn't write it. So Kellymaniacs can't come after me, yet. Let's give the season a few games and see how everyone feels.
 
Hey, I often scratch my head with some of BK's game decisions, and I wouldn't be adverse to a change, but I will never root against my school. Secondly to be both honest and fair, Kelly did get us in the title game in 2012 and but for multiple turnovers in terrible weather at Clemson, we had a shot at the playoffs in 2015. The TO's were not Kelly's fault. Now, am I OK with the state of ND football? No I'm not, I'm a 60 year old alum who remembers our glory days, but I do believe in honesty and fairness
