Riley Leonard

I like Howard of Kansas State better but I would like to see this all play out. I definitely would like a guy who can run and run rpo's. I think with Price and Love and a running QB we could be a great running team.
Howard is a no go at ND.

Watts is all but gone his stock is super high also Hart will be drafted. Cross 50-50 not sure on Harper eligibility..

Well I’d hope so. He has 3 years more experience than Riley does. However that’s not the real question. The real question is: is Riley the best ND can get this season and if so, is he better than anybody else ND has on it’s roster?
Riley has only 1 year of eligibility left.

Want to wager who is the better QB?
You said he wasnt more talented than Sam....Now when ai bring up the wager on who gets drafted higher (talent) your changing it to who is the better QB?

How are you going to measure that? Wins and losses, stats, what?

That a quick backstep if I ever saw one

🤣🤣🤣

Lol. Always nice to hear Mrs. Buchner.
I said Hartman was a better QB.
Productivity is what matters!

I agree with you if they are targeting him as the starter for 2024. If ND is taking him for depth and competition for the QB room, I'm ok with it. Realistically, Riley Leonard is a downgrade from Hartman who I didn't believe was anything special.

Leonard's numbers through 7 games weren't that great. 57% completion, 1,102 yds, 3TD, 3 INT. If Angeli or Minchey can't beat him out then neither are very good.
I wouldn’t look at the numbers w Leonard. From a pure talent standpoint, he’s ahead of Hartman. Big and athletic, can run. I’d even say he’s a difference-maker athlete. He made some damn good throws against ND, when our D was physical and really pounding him.

Hoping Parker and Gino can coach him up a bit. Click with a few of the WR, lean on our elite OL and RB…..the O should be physical and really able to run next year.

I think his ability to run is just below Buchner’s, but he’s bigger and much better thrower.

Some Duke fans are complaining that a team broke NCAA rules by approaching Leonard before the NIL open period.

Agree with this and leonard is definitely more talented physically. With that said, i don't trust we'll run the right offense with him. WE clearly did not run the right offense for hartman and utilize his experience, reads, accuracy and solid mobility.

With leonard and a potential young oline we need to utilize our speed at RB but also make defenders account for him in the run game, while hitting on some big PA. The offense shoule NOT look like it did in 2023 with leonard.

He's already been rated by the player evaluation experts at 247 as a 4 star portal prospect with a .9200 rating (identical rating to Sam Hartman). They take into account film, athleticism, the entire package, etc.

Also, ND shouldn't be spending $1.5M to bring in 1 year stop gap QBs with limited upside (that is something you do when you are 1 player away). This program needs a significantly greater roster across the board; build that roster up, take more risks on future talent with more eligibility, develop them. This program needs prospects with MAJOR upside across the board, way more than a stop gap QB for $1.5M.

Nd doesn't spend a dime. That is against the rules

ND has an NIL collective. They can invest in the collective so players are paid out more. They can also leverage their advertising partners and tap into their network of corporate partners and broker NIL deals for future prospects. They can also use that $1.5M towards other player/locker-room perks (like more training table meals for instance) to make their recruiting message more compelling.

But it simply isn't in NDs culture to invest in their talent, so they make up excuses instead as the losses pile up and the rest of the industry continues to pass them by.

That's the collectives business. Not the University

When I say invest in the collective i mean promote it, back it 100%, and help nurture its growth. Not treat it like its a family member with a drug habbit that nobody should speak about.

Why shouldn’t universities be able to enter into NIL contracts with the players?

I agree. Schools will literally accept sponsorships for their coaches yet get antsy when it comes to paying players outright. They accept innovation when it comes to creating revenues streams yet not when it comes to streamlining NIL.

Apparently Loy said he’d announce today. Other boards say now he is saying the staff is upset he hasn’t announced. GF could be involved others are saying. Who knows. Not me, but rumors seem not great.

All I know is if we don’t get him this is a colossal **** up by Freeman again going all in on a QB. Some reality is going to set in when delusional fans see that Angeli is not good in the bowl game.

Who is GF?

OSU is making a push for him & he is listening. Cant blame him or ND staff for reviewing every offer. Big decision for the kid.

The longer this drags on the worse it looks for us. I still think we get him though. If we don’t it’s not the end of the world IMO, I’m not as high on him as some and getting the two WRs was more important anyways.
