Recruiting - Troy Pride Jr.

glad to see that we got pride but it has cost our irish another though. 4 star cb Hamlin out of Pittsburgh has taken our irish of his list now per twitter and is now down to pitt, penn st and osu. some insiders are saying that pride took his spot as our irish were only taking one more cb

HAmlin is a quality DB, but he's not so good that you can turn down a player with Pride's upside to wait on him.

Hamlin may be a better DB than Prode right now, and that may continue throughout his first 1-2 years of college.

But Pride's ceiling is much higher than Hamlin's

opting for a 3 over a 4 star guy ? they would still take Hamlin

Not everyone has them ranked that way. For is race, 247 has Pride ranked much higher than Hamlin

Pride will likely get a major bump come final rankings

Definitely seems like we have space for both, but they may have reached a point with Hamlin that's "sh*t or get off the pot" since they now only have 1 more DB spot, and about 6 weeks to get someone ok board

Wouldn't shock me if they gave Hamlin an ultimatum becuAse of Pride's commitment, so they know now if they should be chasing Fuller, or other prospects

The stars are so subjective that I am not sure how much weight to put into one website over the other.

247 Sports has Pride as a ****, whereas ESPN and rivals both have him lower at ***.

I have not had a chance to see much of him, so if posters here are telling me that he has the bigger upside, I am willing to be patient in the hopes that in the end, this turns out to be the right move.

If nothing else, I like that the kid knew where he wanted to go and did not hesitate to bring it to fruition. It's the attitude I like in a recruit.

all I know about him Hoffman19 is that insiders are basically saying that he has elite speed or a second gear with really good athletic ability that hasn't totally been shown yet which would explain his three star status by some sites. it seems to me that he is another will fuller type guy with great speed that just needs a good coaching staff like ours to help bring out that athletic ability that he has

Its interesting that Tom Loy is saying that ND was leading w/ Hamlin and likely would've been the choice had we let it play out. But over the past week the staff decided we were only gonna take 1 more pure DB (they will still take a guy like Robertson or Fuller that can play either way) and Pride decided to jump on the offer whereas Hamlin wasn't ready to commit when presented with the ultimatum. Hence why we weren't really on commit watch and then all the sudden Pride announced he was deciding in a few days. It sucks when you have to turn down a guy of Hamlin's talent, but that's where we're at right now.

Also a poster on irishenvy who is a credible poster says ND still has 2 silent commits at this time. No names, but obvious speculation is that its Jones and McKinley.

or Davis and Kelly!

but, watch and see which uncommited prospect's recruiting seems inordinately quiet or stagnant

well there are those that say McCollough cancelled his A&M visit and him pushing back his recruitment is him seeing if BK and the staff will be there next year, that he could be hearing from other schools that BK will bolt for the NFL. I personally don't believe it's McC, but stranger things happen. I happen to believe that it is Jones and McKinley myself and McKinley will announce at the Army AA game.
