Recruiting Started Slow

And I would be more than happy to have him at WR as well. If he's a gamer then get the ball in his hands and let him make plays.

per Tom Loy regarding D. Robertson, as of RIGHT NOW ND is the leader. Said he really likes the idea of being the next Fuller at WR. He likes the coaches, feels comfortable with the players and recruits and was blown away by the presentation of academics. Likely a Georgia/ND battle, w/ Stanford 3rd right now.

Also it seems that we may have a silent commit that will go public in a couple weeks. Obviously no one is saying who, but the $$ right now is on Vaugn. Take it FWIW

Robertson posted a pic on twitter with Will Fuller and said that the coaches are wanting him to be the next Fuller. So it seems they are recruiting him at WR

He was also pictured with Golden Tate who was at the game. We brought out the big guns. With GT involved in his recruitment he will be ours.

From Steve Willtfong, who is 1 of the recruiting analysts I trust most out there, "ND is way out in front for D. Robertson. He's looking to come back with family for the USC game and then wants to come back for the banquet. But don't expect a commitment anytime soon, wants to ride the process out". From rivals, rated the trip an 11 out of 10. Liked the academics, coaches and atmosphere.

Very positive updates here.

Thought Robinson's comments about liking his in depth conversations with Denbrock the most of any during his visit, and that they talked offense and he credits Denbrock with being a great game play caller. We all speculate on how much influence Sanford has on play calling, or talk about Kelly's control over the offense, but we seldom talk about Denbrocks role.

Robertson isn't going anywhere his mother hasn't seen, and yes I know he is suppose to be living with his brother, but that's for his HS eligibility. If she visited ND this past weekend ND is in the hunt, if she didn't then they are not really a player.

That's great news Grumpy. ND does well when mom is that involved. Stanford will be tough to beat if he indeed has them on his list.

Go Irish!

Tex-

I'm not quite sure how anyone on these boards including myself would have the foggiest idea who does what re one particular coaches influence vs another re game planning and play calling . In interviews Kelly has said it is a collaborative effort between Kelly, Denrock + Sanford . I know there is one troll who would like us to believe that any and all success by the ND offense will be attributed to Sanford but that poster has successfully been identified as a nit wit .

Continually, EXACTLY correct. All speculation other than knowing that Kelly does make or approve the final calls during the game, except for two years ago when he had Martin (?) call the game plays. Denbrock is clearly part of the trio of offensive minds planning the offense, but with little to no fanfare.

Probably doesn't get as much fanfare because he doesn't have the OC title for whatever that title is worth. With BK's structure I don't think the OC title is worth as much as it is in other places with regards to how the title directly reflect duties/responsibilities/power

I was reading a interesting post on TOS. The poster was saying he thought Coach Kelly forced a lot of the coaching changes after last season because he didn't think he could win a National Championship with those coaches. It was just speculation but I wonder if there was any truth to that ? Anybody have thoughts on that?

I could see that being true, i.e. Kelly has a come to Jesus with some of them and is like look here is the deal. BK wont admit that though, I think to admit that would be to take an unnecessary shot at the guys that left... Then again with the exception of Lafluer all of those guys that left got raises and may feel like they have a better chance to move up at their new schools. Alford and Cooks especially had been at ND for a while and it could be viewed as just their time to move on.

wiltfong thinks we not only lead but have a big lead for 5 star GA athlete Robertson who visited this past weekend for our first game. he is trying to come back for the usc game and also the banquet

It sounds like mom will hear some great things from her son. She will visit.

I'm trying to be optimistic, but the only time I was a little surprised ,Teo picking ND over USC .How many times ,I was disappointed come January (stars committing during high school all star games ) and the February signing date . On the Letter Of Intent Day ,I was praying that none of our commits would bolt.

When watching ESPNU recruiting nation with Tom Luginbill, I see the lists of the 4-5 star big time high school players.ND is rarely mentioned . Right now our recruiting is ranked at 20 . Just hope we get some of the big time 4-5 stars to committ.Ohio State is set to have a great year along with a host of SEC teams ,Michigan ,Penn State ,USC,UCLA,Oregon,Florida State .

Hoping for a strong finish with recruiting. A great season will help
