question for ND homers

I don't get this atmosphere talk. Clemson acts like ND plays at Mac teams for away games. You telling me FSU last year wasn't rocking with the chop. ND did just fine with the crowd. If anything it may spark our team more.

It is different. No knock on FSU.

Quote from FSU QB Chris Rix,
"Florida was loud in the Swamp. But, the loudest, not only the stadium, but the loudest place I, have ever been around in my life was Death Valley. I was yelling at the top of my lungs and I couldn't even hear what I was saying. The place was unreal how loud it was. I don't think I will ever be in a louder place than Clemson."

"I came here knowing it would be loud and that Clemson would hit me hard, but to me, the noise was the biggest factor. I know I didn't concentrate as well because of it."
Herschel Walker after Clemson's 13-3 victory in 1981, his only regular season loss at Georgia.

Do you want to win this game on the II message board or on the field? Talk is cheap, my friend.

How we played in the first three has nothing to do with this week. Just telling y'all that the 1s sat out. Almost all points were surrendered in the 2nd half. We were well through the game before either of the first two got a 1st down

Whoa, it sounds tough. Are you sure it's safe for ND to travel there?

all true points, I was isolating Kizer since his lack of experience seems to me NDs biggest question mark. I think you already saw this and some of the others in here chose to deflect with irrelevant history rather than admit it.
They aren't giving you straight answers because they've already gone several rounds with Clemson posters in other threads. I gave you straight answers because I haven't participated until now. Many boards would have already shut down the Clemson posters, but this one isn't really moderated.

If you feel the posts here are too homerific, realize this is their home board and that is to be expected just like any other home board including yours.

Clem, here's the deal. Loud is good. I fully expect it to be loud Saturday night. But loud doesn't win football games. If noise won football games, and Clemson is as loud as you say (and I have no reason to believe otherwise), then Clemson would never lose a home football game. And I know for a fact that Clemson has, in fact, lost home football games.

Loudest recorded stadium?

Oregon............. How did that work out for them, at home last week against Utah?

chill out mr ivory tower. my purpose was to educate which I've clearly done. y'all are now well schooled on your qb flaws and the dominant nature of southern habadashery

Why don't you act like an adult and show some class? Is it really necessary to behave like a boorish rube? No need for that behavior, is there?

Damn, IB, you do not play around.

It's a pet peeve. If you want to discuss football, great that is why we are all here.

If your goal is just to be a dick. Do that on your own board. His only goal here was to troll the ND posters and try to rustle their jimmies. He is mad that he got called for it. I don't care who you cheer for, and I am the first to show where ND comes up short. But some people are only useful to test helmets.

ive read all about how ND is used to big games and raucous, Midwestern atmospheres blah blah blah, but riddle me this:

what makes you think Kizer is ready? he has never had to perform in the midst of chaos like he will face saturdee. thanks pawl, I'll take it off air.

The way I look at it is this...

It's not rocket science, a defense is a defense. Kizer isn't going to see anything that he hasn't seen before or anything that Kelly has given him in practice/film room.

Kizer's good. Seems like a smart kid, reads defenses fairly well, and has all the physical tools needed to succeed - size, speed, arm strength. His only weakness is accuracy, and I attribute those issues to mechanical problems that Kelly and LeFleur are working to fix. As a former QB I can tell you that it won't take him that long to figure it out.

As for the atmosphere, If you don't think that Kelly has been pumping sound out of the speakers on their grass turf practices all week you're crazy. ND has played in the craziest environments, this isn't anything new.

Notre dame has played well on the road in October games, I expect this Saturday to be no different. Defense is going to step up, Procise will score a couple, Fuller will do his thing and Yoon will have his coming out party.

I think we are better , period .. When you question the temperament of DW it shows your college football knowledge is lacking entry level skills..

Dwayne Wade has an excellent temperament. Dick Williams not so much....
Thank you for coming to an ND board and telling us what you think. Look at the middle finger of your right hand. That is the number of NC's you have. You should hang out on michigan's board. They could use your cfb intelligence there...

My question is this. What does it say about your team, when your biggest advantage is the atmosphere of the stadium and raucous crowd? Are the fans cheers going to score touchdowns for Clemson? We can't say we have superior talent, but hey our fans they are really, really loud. Clemson not even the best Death Valley in college football.

Are you sure you are mistaken them for Seattle which is the loudest? Loudest I've heard DV was when #5 UGA came in 2013 and got beat. FSU the same would have been better had they not stomped us from the get go.

What experience does Watson have in big games? What has he proven he can do in big games? I don't keep up with Clemson, so I honestly don't know. He can lead the team to historic wins against App State, Wofford, and an 0-3 Louisville? Score!

Hell, Kizer should quit the team and go bag groceries at Piggly Wiggly. With that resume, we don't stand a chance! Does anyone have the AD's phone number? We need to cancel this game and play Clemson's juggernaut schedule. THEN Kizer would be ready.

GTFOH with this ish. I didn't realize we were playing Tom Brady Saturday. This Rouge Floosie clown won't be over here if we win Saturday.

Actually we were both wrong.

Number 1 loudest is actually Washington Huskies at 133.6 decibel level set in 1992. Clemson loudest is 132.8 set against Boston College in 2007. Oregon comes in at 4th at 127 decibels in 07 against USC. For record that was 4th loudest, and LSU was third at 130 decibel set in 2007 against the Gators.

Loud is loud. But loud alone doesn't win games.

And all BS aside this game will come down to which secondary steps up. If Clemson can't stop the dink and dunk plays which I expect ND to run the majority of the night, and if ND's secondary can't keep the receivers covered long enough to allow what is considered a lacking pass rush to get to (and contain) Watson Clemson will win big.

oh my. you have no idea what's gonna happen when ND has the ball, do you?

Lmao: Clemson is now the Steel Curtain or the Fearsome Foursome!

Speed - ND has more speed than Clemson has seen to date; or will see this season; and you know what speed does right?

FSU is pretty fast and so is Clemson. I don't just mean skill guys I am talking about DL and OL as well.

i asked what would make ND fans so confident in Kizer and the closest thing to an answer I got came from a nole

my point is now proven, there is no empirical evidence supporting Kizer unless you think he has the same mental toughness/leadership as Jameis.

I think he has shown brief flashes on the field thus far. The 2 minute drill to beat UVA. The two minute drill at the end of the 1st half to go up 2 scores on UMASS.
Plus, do look at a little of his personal life. Look at what he and his GF have been dealing with for the last year plus while trying to play QB and be a full-time student at ND.

I doubt this kid will wilt. He may have some early issues until they adjust to what they see from the Clemson defense. The difference is, Kizer appears to have the demeanor to not for bad balls or decisions and try to win the game with a single stupid play. ND may lose, but if they do, I doubt it will be due to a horrible game from Kizer.

There has been more pregame chatter for this game than I think there was for the FSU game last year. The recurring theme that I keep seeing is Clemson fans pounding their chest about their stadium/crowd noise. I think we all get that it will be loud, and if it was me behind center I'd be ######## bricks, but I think Kizer can handle it.

Honestly, over the years, it seems like ND is more likely to lose in a dead atmosphere than in a lively one. I think the noise & atmosphere gets them hyped and focused, while they sometimes lose focus otherwise (like the 1st half against UMass & both times we started to pull away from UVA).

I don't mind pregame hype.

Usually it is the posters that want to hang around this board for weeks and weeks after the game still living off the accomplishments of others that annoys me.

Are you going to have like 15 players on defense, and have some of them screaming with megaphones? What chaos?

Yeah, we were all told last year how FSU's superior athletes were going to run circles around our midwestern farm boys. We had no problem going athlete for athlete with FSU, and I suspect we won't with Clemson either.

p.s. Same thing with Oklahoma in 2012. It turned out that they couldn't match up with us.

It will be new for Kizer. Pumping up the sound at practice can get you used to the noise level but not the pressures of playing in a hostel environment.

Guys it will be a 4th quarter game. If you all aren't raving about how great you were treated I will be shocked. Last year you took in Tally and this year DV. True football in the south. Hopefully these experiences will warrant full ACC membership
