Proud of the players for overcoming advsersity and bad coaching

Great comeback. The players never gave up. Yes, there were mistakes galore that the players were accountable for but they never gave up. They could have gotten down with dropped passes and fumbles and given up in a monsoon but they kept on fighting. They could have given up when Kelly gave away the first 3 quarters by continuously running on first down against an 8 man front but they kept on fighting. They could have given up when Kelly went for an unnecessary 2-point conversion and failed but they kept on fighting. Maybe they would have given up after the easily defended 2-point conversion try at the end of the game but there was nothing left to fight for at that point.

At the end of the day, the players have to perform but for some reason they did not seemed prepared. Is that all on the players? Maybe. I always thought that it was up to the coach to prepare the players. Obviously, many posters don't agree. Anyway, time to move on and hope that the "Once a year blown game by Kelly" is behind them. Play solid football and prepare for the Champ Sports Bowl. At least the schedule has exposed Kelly and crew early on in the season instead of getting our hopes up once again only to shit the bed later on in the season. Fight on Kelly...your annual reservation at the Champs Sports Bowl is still valid. And After the season, when Jaylon, Stanley, Day, etc leave, all of your 3-star recruits can come aboard and maintain your annual 8-5 record. The future appears steady.

I posted on the NBC Irish app in August that ND had a chance to have a special season because of the talent level here. I also said in order to be great Kelly had to get out of the way. Last night, again, he got in the way. Unconscionable loss and it's on cbk. He's simply an idiot.

When I see Kelly out on the field dropping TD passes & big first down passes and fumbling the ball on 2nd half kickoffs and on the 1 yard line......then I may start to blame him for this loss. However, by the looks of some of the chances ND had I think he and the coaching staff were calling the right plays. I have mixed feelings about the 2 pt conversion and trying to run the ball against an 8 man box on most of the first downs......but even with doing that and having 4 turnovers that led some Clemson points, he still coached them into having a chance to win. Even as putrid as ND played as an overall.......they still had a legitimate shot at winning the game with only playing 1 solid quarter of football. I find that pretty amazing in itself.

I'm interested in seeing where the boys go from here if they don't get down on themselves. It's at this point where the true teams/players get stronger and make runs toward a national championship/playoff run. I'm not saying that they will win it by any means.....still alot of good teams out there. But I do believe if they play a solid game and don't lose the turnover battle they could play with about anyone in the country. I'm still glass half full at this point.....

I agree with you and I don't see this team folding down the stretch. They clearly showed they were the better team from about the mid-point of the third quarter on. We lost because of bad field position turnovers, a shanked punt and a big run by their QB in the first quarter. They never had sustained drives but we gave them a shortened field too often especially at the beginning of the game and right after the half.

.......For those complaining about the early two point conversion, the play was perfectly called and the pass should have been caught. If it had been caught, we would have been kicking an extra point for the win with seven seconds left. I'm not going to call out the players who missed the passes by name but there were some perfectly thrown balls that should have been caught. The play I didn't like was the last two point conversion. I would much rather have seen a rollout with a pass/run option with Kizer. He's a good runner but not as big of a body as Zaire or Wimbush to plow through the pile. This team showed heart and there were a lot of good play calls and execution that gave us a chance to win.

It's hard to believe so many here are saying Kelly is not as good a coach as Dabo.

I find Dabo entertaining. The exact opposite of lugubrious. He must do a great job with his system, recruiting etc... but if there is an edge he has over the coach across the field,,, it's that his players and the fans (vast majority) absolutely love the guy.

Thanks ND in Houston. Second guessing is all part of the sports fan experience, and I don't mind that at all. It's fair to debate Kelly's call for two when he made it, as you can make the case for either. I think he made the right call given the circumstances and worsening weather etc... It gets old to read the same posters blaming Kelly whenever we hit a speed bump. We had more than enough chances to win the game and we just didn't ball as well in the weather conditions as Clemson. To discount four turnovers and harp on a failed two point conversion speaks volumes.

Breathe of fresh air Tex -

The culture not to quit comes from Kelly PERIOD -- BTW re the 2 pt conversion - WR wide open - pass had way too much juice and too high - Robinson could have still caught it -- if Kizer makes a throw w touch the hunter catch followed by a yoon PAT wraps it up .

As you said Tex focusing on a well designed poorly executed play rather than four fumbles in a monsoon is pretty sad and does speak volumes - btw purse said fumbles are coached - pure insanity - scary . WOW !!

I have found that I am 100% correct in whether or not a play was the right call AFTER the play. ND made mistakes but they played with heart, character and a never say die attitude. That my friends starts with the leadership at the top.

The little wizazu is a genius because he plays Madden 24x7 and when he gets his a$$ handed to him he hits the reset button so his stats are off the charts. But his real skill is playing the single day fantasy games. He did really well once and made $25 so he deserves our respect.

I watched the game in a bar where I don't get a good feel for the game. Today I watched the relay. Originally I thought that Kizer was throwing it too hard but most of the drops were strong l passes but not lasers.

I thought the first try for two was right on. ND had not yet scored a touchdown and had limited possessions left in the game. The call was perfect. Robinson was way open. Kizer didn't need to throw it so high but it absolutely should have been caught.

Congrats to Clemson -

STOP WITH THE BAD COACHING SHIT!!! The players LOST THIS GAME! Damn there are some idiotic people that post on this board.

Agreed! That first half wasn't on the coaches and the coaches did a great job of keeping the players focused to come back. Obviously I was not excited about Kelly going for the first 2 pt conversion and I think the last one was a poor call, I would rather have Kizer roll out for the option to run/pass, but if we had the blocks he would have gotten in and that is the truth.

The special teams ended up really costing us the game if you think about it. That first punt that gave them the ball on the 30 ended up in a quick 14 pt lead. The kick return fumble to start the second half by the freshmen. Then both the 2pt conversions although those are kind of hard to say "special teams" even if they are.
