Possibility of Playoffs - A Realistic View

Two pages in less than two hours - that's impressive. You may be onto something; it's better to go against the grain on this board than to toe the line...haha

I see your point sweetheart, but "slow them big horsies down"...For Okie to win out, they would have to beat both Baylor and TCU and I am afraid that overcomes our sweet irish.

I disagree to some extent yes it's a fear BUT I think a lot of people are not convinced on the quality of the big 12. If Oklahoma gives tcu and Baylor a loss they will drop like stones. And when Baylor beats tcu or vice versa that losing team will be in the mid teens. So not the quality wins they look like now.

Also committee needs things they can hang their hat on. Nd will have
1. A tougher sos
2. A better loss
3. A thrashing of Oklahomas loss
4. And big 12 doesn't have a championship game so we don't fall to that 13 game argument.

I think it'll be close but I think nd gets the nod over Oklahoma.

This poster is incapable of recognizing the difference between fact and opinion. His projections are not "more factual than people writing on here that if we go 11-1 we are in." They are merely his own guesswork.
\\watch out crap on the board we make playoffs we r ND Who is this pessimist?

It's getting old hearing about the 13th game crap. Outside of Stanford, the rest of the top 10 have played one or more 'glorified scrimmages'. The gold standard - Alabama - has played or will play Middle Tennessee State, Louisiana Monroe, and Charleston Southern. That adds up to nine real games during the season - at least ND plays 12 real games (11 if you don't consider UMASS).

Edit: And, eight of their 12 games are at home - REALLY?!?

Conclusion - ND will not make playoffs even if they win out. ND BIAS because we have been a fraud the last 20 years possibly but with good reason. Under Weis we made some major bowls and were embarrassed. Kelly;s 2012 travesty against BAMA did not help. I said from day 1 we had to go undefeated to make playoofs but clowns like echo/gipper/Argus/Continual etc said I was an idiot. The proof is right here. The resident trolls are idiots. Maybe if Kelly did not go for 2 so early against Clemson or did not run into an 8 man front for 3 quarters this would not be an issue. But Kelly loses at least 1 game a year just on his play calling.

Another year wasted...plus we lose all our talent and the recruiting class is pitiful. Whether Kelly abandons ship as he is prone to do (Cincy, Eagles) or gets fired when we go 5-7 in two years because the purple faced one has gotten lazy in his recruiting (probably can't pull himself away from the buffet(, his time has come and gone.
Who is this guy? Damn if anyone spots him doing laps around the parking lot in his Ford Fiesta duck and cover. He might go postal!

it's only realistic to you because you despise the head football coach at notre dame. very little logic in there at all. keep trying though.

My conclusion is that most of your 64 posts are worthless.

another post about the poster! another attempt to kill a topic!

well your 6dozen ID's make his post look golden!

PS: Paz, I think you are not evaluating ND's chances correctly.

keep it simple.
1.concede a B10 spot
2. Bama beats LSU decisively
UF beats Bama in SEC championship game.
The only 1 loss team is a 2nd place in the conference team
3. FSU beats Clemson
FSU losses in ACC champs game
see same as SEC
4. Pac12 ND can take them out themselves.
5. the round robin in the B12 is the problem - TCU&Baylor will eliminate one
Ok will eliminate another
? is who eliminates Ok.?
late losses are tough during the 'committee weeks'

If your talking about me i have had only this screen name since i joined in 2004. I never understood the need of some to have multiple handles except if they are bi-polar.
No I dont live in my moms basement. I actually own my own construction bushiness and have a family of 5 (good Catholic).

I genuinely apologize for confusing you with a similar ID; however, the OP is just an overly enthusiastic fan, and the best reply is a better argument or point.

Again sorry for the mistaken Identity.

"I never understood the need of some to have multiple handles except if they are bi-polar."

Never have truer words been written.

Except bi-polar gives them an excuse. If only it were that easy. Crazy as hell is more like it.

I wouldn't count the NCSU game as a win for the tigers. State has some athletes and some fire power. Everybody is in love with Clemson after they beat a very, very, very bad um team that has given up.

If chaos happens we have a chance. You assume no chaos under that scenario I agree. The clemson game came down to turnovers that allowed Kelly to go for 2 and unfortunately the gamble failed

Perseverance - Why does anyone have to eliminate Oklahoma. I am not convinced a one loss OK gets in over ND. Remember, if OK beats TCU and Baylor they wont be top 8 anymore. Then one of them will lose another when they face each other putting that team in the teens. I think the committee needs hooks they can hang their decision on. ND will have a a stronger SOS, a better loss, demolished the team OK loss to, and we wont be battling that 13 game stuff versus the big 12. If nd wins out, stanford wins out (other than losing to ND) and OK wins out I think ND gets in over OK.

If OK wins out it will have 3 wins in the final six week over top 15 teams... Ok St, TCU, Baylor. At least one of those teams will still probably be top 10, the others will be top 20 more then likely. If ND wins out and hands Temple and Pitt losses, both of those teams could fall out of the top 25, leaving only Stanford left. Also I believe UT is getting better as the season is progressing and they are sticking with Heard at QB. Don't believe UT would beat ND if they played today but the game would be closer in my opinion.

Thats the argument for why OK is a threat.

Ok. I don't think all three of those teams will be in top 20 if OK wins out. One will have to have at least 3 losses, or all will have two in which case none are in the top 10. I also think USC will be top 20 by seasons end. And probably one other of NDs teams (tx, pitt, temple). ND will have a stronger SOS when all said and done, and at the least its a push. Which will then get down to - nd has better loss (rain, away, first time qb), beat a common opponent).

Texas would have to win out to sniff the top 25. I think they will drop to Baylor and potentially Tech. USC could move up and should, even a loss to end the season w/UCLA would put them at 8-4. Pitt is probably the best chance as Temple should lose to us and Memphis and then will have to either play Memphis again or Houston which would be a 3rd loss.

I am not saying OK is in a better spot but the SOS is close to ND's.

I agree. Not saying its a lock for ND. But see a lot of people saying that the winner of the Big 12 is automatic. Arguments can be made that ND gets that bid. Thats all.

If OK wins out they deserve a spot but think that is very unlikely.

Speculating on what the committee will or will not do makes for a great discussion, but also a futile one. Since no poll is out yet it's hard to say what they are thinking and as NDEwing points out in another thread, one year of voting doesn't provide history to go on. I'll keep my focus on ND, and ND winning out. Then we'll see and can discuss all day

Ole Miss plays LSU also.
If Bama beat LSU and Miss beats LSU then UF wins the championship game against? the SEC is at best getting 1 spot.

A lot of speculation but my biggest concern is if Clemson only loses to FSU, can we leap frog them with 1 loss? I tend to think it depends on who that loss comes to (FSU vs. USC or another lesser opponent) and of course how that game plays out...
