I would like to say that I have posted many responses as to why I think Kelly needs to go. I am not one of those fans who hopes the team sucks so they fire him. With that said, it appears he will be here for at least another year. If I am correct, then I want him to go undefeated next year. I don't want a repeat of this season. I will be rooting for the Irish like i always have. Regardless of how I feel about Kelly, if he remains it is imperative that the Irish have a great season. Why do I say this? It is counterproductive for the long term of the program to hope they lose just to get Kelly fired. It would be much better to have a great season and Kelly to be offered and NFL gig rather than get fired. I'm tired of all the negative stuff and now sports journalists are writing negative articles. It's like a mob mentality. Everyone is taking shots. Fair or not, it's hurting ND. The last thing we need is a recruiting class to fall apart , have the coach get fired and start a 5 year rebuilding plan again with a new coach. Eventually Kelly will leave. Until then, he needs to turn it around so when he does, ND will be a place where people want to coach and great players still want to play. There is very good young talent on this team. Hopefully they can pull it together next year.

Or fire him now. Suddenly there are two Major openings! Would be much easier to find a name in the carousel.

Maybe. I'm just saying as of this moment it appears Kelly is staying. And if he is, it's better to win than lose. But if I'm wrong and he is fired, then they need to bring in a coach who not only is a winner but connects with recruits. For now he's still the coach and we need to accept that and hope he gets things turned around.

No one wishes for the Irish to lose. But to suggest they will have some major turn around next year is to engage in the most nonsensical wishful thinking. It is not like this was a year of improvement over the previous year, looking toward the culmination of a building process, like at Washington. No, this was a terrible year and I simply don't understand how anyone can think they are going to be so much better next year; when the clear evidence is; players do not get better under Kelly.

Agreed. Not rooting against them. If anything Kelly has shown me in his 7 yr career here. Is that he is a terrible gameday coach. I dont see it suddenly changing.

Most important things...a coach that teaches defense,a coach that cares about special teams play,a coach that recruits will love to play for, a coach that prepares for the bad teams as well as the Stanfords, a coach that players can believe in...BK is none of the above. Hell IU wasn't even afraid to pull the trigger. ND trustees get off your arses and do the right thing for the school..fire BK NOW!!!

this is not just a coaching issue. This involves integrety, dignity, humility and grace.

And you are too narrowly focused.

He lost his team. how do you think he finds it before next year? Do these 19 year olds just forget about this year and buy in next year, even though they didn't this year? His words have gone stale in this locker room. Like a failed marriage, it is going to be hard to get them back.

That's why he gets 1 year. Look we still have a solid recruiting class sure we'll have some defections but we always do so I'm not that concerned. Finish with 18 to 20 kids coming in great. Have a good season next year the train is back on the track.

Ok. let's say we have a small class this year that missed in needed areas . Next year they do poorly, and how is recruiting next year?
Because you didn't pull the plug. You may be putting the program back two years at a minimum.

so far, a much needed DT and linebacker have decommitted. These are kids who had substantial opportunity to play sooner rather than later. They passed on that opportunity. This is not going to end well.

An let's say we hire a new coach, this class bolts and we have a bad season next year that would be even worse bc you'll have a lousy class coming in bc you're equating loses this year to a bad or small class. When talking recruiting it's fickle sometimes unless you're a perennial power which we are far from at the moment. Truth of the matter is we are heading into an unknown. We're expecting a bad season because that is the freshest thing in our memory.

the failed DL and overall defensive recruiting is starting to manifest itself; gonna get worse before better.

The offense will decline for '17.

The longer actions sre delayed the deeper the hole ND falls into.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of a program; a massive transfusion is needed. Kelly cannot deliver any revitalization of this team.

But, for me this is not soley football; it is as much or more a character issue. He has to go.

Transfusion or Enema - this D needs to be expunged !

As bad as the season was, there is no indication that Kelly lost this team. And there's no indication from anyone inside the program that he lost the team. The only people talking about him losing the team are on message boards.

Wimbush will be a great QB. However, our DL and D in general will suck.

Wimbush is all about pitential. That is it at this point! yikes, did you guys learn nada? Golson!
Wait and let's see.

Wimbush will have a solid season in year 1 on the field w/ BK - it is usually in year 2 and 3 of playing on the field when the QB regress's under BK. At least that is what has happened so far w/ all of his ND QB's.

Wimbush is all about pitential.

So is every new starting QB on every team every year. At least he's been in the system for two years, gotten lots of reps in practice and in spring. How'd you like to be UCLA last year or Georgia this year, hanging your hat on a true freshman who hasn't take a snap? I'd take our situation with Wimbush all day over that.

Notre Dame is very loyal. I can appreciate that as I am also very loyal to Notre Dame. But what is best for Notre Dame?

but consider that once again because either the QB needs a moving pocket or the area between the hash marks which was finally part of the offense, will now be lost to extent as was when EG and MZ were in there.
Vision over OL is the issue.
