Did anyone else watch his story of the1988 classic FB game between ND and Miami on ESPN tonight? I thought it was excellent. There were some tidbits I didn't know or forgot. Anyway, great story. I hope it's repeated.
Great program. Makes me sad to see how far this administration has let the program fall. Hire a coach with a personality like Lou! Not the dud currently coaching. Here's a link explaining the program:

Great post Buguit. That was a terrible call that gave Miami halftime momentum. Love the post!People should be reminded that even then some of the same "mantra" was spewed then as it is today ..... Academic standards are too high ..... football at ND is over .... not true
BS that Miami whines about the Gary fumble .... arguably a bad call .... but nobody wants to talk about Chudzinski catching a pass .... getting 2 feet down ..... and getting drilled by Stonebreaker as he tries to turn upfield .... clearly a fumble that was ruled an inc pass .... this before the half that ended in a TD for Miami ..... phhttt ..... whatever

That documentary was like Christmas coming early for me ... as someone who lived it as a student with some friends on the team this was the high point of my sports fandom. This show was so well done and the shirt angle was great as truly they did mint the phrase Catholics vs Convicts which perfectly embodied the increasingly volatile relationship between these two schools.
Jimmy Johnson, though a shiner, was and always has been a good sport about this rivalry. I thought I knew everything there was to know about this game, team and season but a few new things for me in this show.
We all yearn for the next one but still fun to celebrate the last one.

It also exposed that the catch that put Miami within one point was indeed a dropped pass. Even Steve Walsh did not realize this until the show. Same deal with JJ and a few other Canes. There should have never been a two point play. It should have been ND 31 Miami 24
It should be on several times during this bowl season.Missed it. Anyone know if it will be shown more than once?

Two things....I have it on DVR, haven't watched it yet. Probably the most memorable game I've attended at ND. It was an unusually warm and sunny day for South Bend in mid October. We had our 8 month old with us (who just got married this past summer) and we learned about 45 minutes before game time that she needed a ticket. Panic ensued, but one of my class of '80 buddies had an extra, and solved that. We were in the south end zone, kind of low, the Gary fumble/non-fumble was right in front of us. As was the Terrell pass break up at the end. Total euphoria.
Sure, she went again the next year to the classic 1989 USC game as a 20 month old. By the next season her sister was born, and that ended that streak. Two things....
1. Since you haven't watched it yet.....spoiler alert - ND wins the game!!!
2. You took an 8 month old to a football game??

I streamed it from WatchESPN last night. I'm sure it'll eventually be on Netflix too. Most of the 30-for-30 shows have ended up there.
