OT: Mike Tyson

Everybody in the fight world knows that Tyson would’ve destroyed Jake Paul, except for the know it all and denier in residence, who is clueless when it comes to boxing ……… amongst other things
Hes clueless when it comes to football also. RL, first round NFL talent

Pat,
Didn’t watch the so-called fight and don’t intend to. But you’ve raised some interesting points. As someone who often refers to the accuracy of Las Vegas betting spreads, etc… can you tell us if Vegas was taking bets on this fight? If so, it’s hard for me to believe there were these kinds of contract Restrictions. The whole boxing scene has a rich history of corruption, etc… but a written contract like you have described that is withheld from the betting public would seem to be fodder for all sorts of lawsuits from bettors and the casinos themselves.
Telx, have to remember that gambling, is illegal in most states, and the fighters aren’t obligated to reveal the terms of their contract to the casinos and betting public

Remember, gambling is a voluntary exercise

When Vegas sets the odds, they do so based on the information they have in hand, involved parties are under no obligation to keep Las Vegas informed as to the details of their contract

So the question is, who are you going to sue and on what basis?
Neither Tyson nor Jake Paul had any vested interest in any gambling venture

They are in a hold harmless position

The casinos set the odds based on the information they have in hand

And those that gamble did so voluntarily and at their own risk

I don’t see where gambling being a voluntary exercise has anything to do with this. It’s as though the fight was fixed, but documented in a contract, and the promoters would be the party at risk in my opinion.

I haven’t looked, but can you provide a reliable sourced link that provides the details of this contract? I guess I find the whole idea of documented limitations as to what kind of punches Tyson could throw so incredible, that it’s really hard to process and believe.

If you go back and rewatch the fight, there were several times in the early rounds where Tyson had an open Paul and held back throwing his punch that could have nailed Paul. A seasoned fighter doesn't miss those opportunities. It's all good though, Tyson got a nice payday to play paddy-cakes in the ring for 16 minutes.
That or he was too slow. There's an easy reason why there are no old professional boxers.

What risk?

Why would the promoters be at risk?
The flight was between two contestants who agreed to the contractual terms between ONLY themselves

I don’t I think you can go as far as to say that the flight was fixed, but I do think that you can say that the rules of engagement for the fight favored Jake Paul.

Why do you find that hard to believe, doesn’t the NFL tell you that you can’t blindside block or cut block. Each sport has their own guidelines. And this situation, the two men agreed to the rules are engagement.

It’s clear this was a promotional payday for the two contestants
