OT: anyone watching the woman's World Cup?

YES, several games.
Copa America too. Chi-Chi-Chi Le-Le-Le

Isn't this an American college football board, not a futbol board?

the kid Rincon for Columbia can really dribble the ball, but she needs to learn where the goal is!

I'm guessing she knows where the goal is. And I know for sure she can spell Colombia.

Yes, I'm watching most of the games and enjoying it very much! US has a great chance to win.

it looks like Germany, Japan, Sweden, Canada and the USA are the teams that look to be the teams that will provide the champion.
Columbia is fortunate that it does not have to play Colombia; but neither team is a serious contender.
If so, I like Rincon's team!

Absolutely. It is good sport except for a few blow out games. Plus there is one or two Notre Dame girls playing for my team....Team Canada!!!

i do wish that the sportscasters had given more credit to the colombian girls and less blamed the officials in both their wins. If France was so much better, then why did they lose? European bias.

Yes ... the backup to Solo (goal keeper) is the daughter of one of my good friends. She was the starter when Solo was dealing with her domestic abuse issues. Followed her when she played HS soccer and led her team to two State Championships. She's somewhat of a hero in these parts when it comes to women's sports.

It would seem to me that you arrive at your sister's house half lit, then pound your teenage nephew's head against the floor, then attack your sister, then for good measure, tell the arresting officer that you have a piece of jewelry that's worth more than his yearly salary, that would draw the attention of the U.S. Soccer governing body, the sports media, and this board. But, it's like none of this ever happened. Strange indeed. And to think the verbal abuse Tom Brady had to withstand for the trumped up media creation "deflategate".

The sports media actually has been talking about it. It's not going to get as much attention as Tom Brady because few people care about women's soccer as compared to the NFL playoffs.

That's true but the laddies are still remarkable athletes IMHO and sports fans do themselves a real disservice by not tuning in from time to time. At least to appreciate the athletic ability of these gals.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Assuming US woman can beat Nigeria and the round of 16 opponent, I am headed to Ottawa next Friday for quarter final game, the Canadian War museum, a few cold Molsons, and some poutine.
