This year….Mich, Wisky, Boise are not their usual strong programs …so aren’t as daunting as one would think

They’re still to me better than the opponents ND has faced. Louisville lost to Stanford. Navy was outed. I’m not taking anything away from the Irish, as you can only play the schedule you have.

Honestly, even accounting for some margin of error, I can’t see how some favorably compare ND with Oregon. Not right now. Let’s see the next 2 games…and the playoffs.

For me, it’s not that ND has as good of a résumé as Oregon. It’s the stating that Oregon’s schedule is so much better that I find to be erroneous.

Louisville lost to Stanford. It happens. They also lost to three top 15 teams all by a touchdown. They were 10-4 last year too. I would take Louisville over Illinois and Boise State as well as any Big 10 team not in the top four of the Big 10. I’m confident Louisville would only have two or three losses had they played Illinois’ schedule. I’m also confident Illinois would have 3-4+ losses had they played Louisville’s schedule.

Boise State is getting all of their credibility from a close loss to Oregon. They haven’t played any other P4 schools. They’d probably have 3-6 losses now if they did play a Big 10 or ACC schedule.

Aside from OSU and Illinois, Oregon has no other wins over 6 win teams. Just Washington upcoming at 6-5, just like ND will likely play 6-5 USC.

ND has 8-2 A&M, 6-4 Louisville, and 6-4 GT. That’s pretty comparable to me when you consider Oregon played an FCS team which is almost a guaranteed win.

Well stated. And when you defeat Ohio St. and run the table undefeated in the Big 10 if you defeat Washington, respect follows. Deservedly.

You are cherry picking .

On the flip side, Mich (have you watched their games?) and Wisky (who gave up 42 to Iowa) have 5 losses each. Nothing to brag about beating them. Both will finish .500. Illinois needed OT to beat both Nebraska and Purdue, lost to Minny.

Ville beat Clemson but lost to 3 ranked teams named SMU, Miami (52-45) and ND.

You seem to be giving credit for “names” versus team strengths this year

Well stated. “And when ND finishes 11-1 with a letdown loss to NIU, respect follows”

I considered the whole body of work. So I have little doubt if you flipped schedules, Oregon would be undefeated…and ND would probably have more than 1 loss. I also disagree with folks that Louisville would be ok in the BIG.

I watched some of their game against Stanford. They imploded big time at the end. I visited their chat board, where they don’t hold back, candidly admitting their deficiencies.

I get it. We disagree about on some points which we both stated.
