Hope we get both Prescod and Lambert commitments after this weekend, but just getting one will at least give us some opinions to kick around. Both would silence the Rudolph recruiting concerns; neither will add my voice to these concerns. Big weekend for Rudolph and our OL recruiting.
I try to discount rankings, etc… but Prescod is something like 608th overall and 48th OT, and that is concerning on the surface. I haven’t seen his film or offer list. Golson, et Al, your opinion? Some of these guys get killed with their rankings because they play weak competition and don’t participate in many of these off season camps. Another hidden jewel or a three to four year project?
Look...I see your point but also understand you are a broken record. Lets see how it plays out. ND does not have many open spots on the OL and Rudolph has not bee there long enough to impact the underclassman. I know ND will lose Alt....likely will lose Fischer but we will have to see. Fisher may come back to play LT for a year...make good NIL and go first round instead of 2nd round. Lots of football still to play but all the haters on Rudolph are like guys complaining about not having the top prom date on Thanksgiving weekend.
1 top 250 OL recruit in 2 years is not going to win a playoff game let alone a championship. Simple data.
There's been teams that have won a NC without having NFL type lines...Clemson
We have 4 top 250 guys from the 22 and 23 class. This class isnt complete and the rankings can move up or down
And Absher was a top 250 guy until after he committed to us....thats a trend lately. Ranked high, commit to ND. Ranking goes down. Absher is really good so Im not worried about his ranking
Same thing happened with Peter Jones this year. His ranking is dropping for no reason
I’m not disagreeing with you. I just don’t think our OL coach is an explosive recruiter. Hope he’s a HH developer and walks the walk so he doesn’t have to talk the talk.
I do not buy this victim mentality that is pushed by the media about ND. “We drop bc we are ND.” I don’t believe that shit. Jagusah didn’t drop. Cam Williams didn’t drop. J love, Gray didn’t drop. P. Bowen never dropped while committed for a year. Many others rose or stayed similar. I’m sick of hearing this. Lots of pansies.

I agree I dont like hearing and sometimes it is annoying. But sometimes it is legit. No way Absher or Ausberry should have dropped. And Greathouse. And James. And Flores
I think some of thoes EEs proved that the ranking drop was insane.
How in the world did 247 rank 43 wrs ahead of Greathouse? How did they drop him down in the rankings after his sr year. Things like that is just silly
I am very concerned about the “tackle” from georgiA. . Has good attitude. What else is suspect.
Equally concerned. On surface this is a bad haul. Only lambert would be a gem. Now as you say, maybe staff sees something but why Nd struggles to recruit the very top ranked O line recruits is baffling to me
Without Lambert it will be the worst OL haul in decades. This was confirmed by someone that crunched the numbers on a different forum. Not what we need at a time we are loading up on skill position talent.
If I’m freeman I’m finding some portal OL if they can’t get Lambert. There have to be some smart farm boys in the Midwest that we could look for from Iowa, Wisconsin, etc.
This position really should recruit itself at ND. Rudolph is looking like a dope. Whether it’s on him or not. It’s optics. He’s going to take a lot of heat if he can’t close Lambert (who is really just a standard mid range ND OL recruit).

Personally, I like Peter Jones a lot. I think he’s an excellent get (by Harry). I have questions about Knapp (by Rudolph) since Rudolph insists he’s a tackle and seems every service sees him as a guard, as size is an issue. Harry did a terrible job this past year recruiting before he abruptly retired, and not sure we can judge Rudolph by this Season. Lambert is the most critical recruit at this point, and Harry never offered him. If we get both Prescod and Lambert, it’s a good haul, with Two very likely starters, but far from elite. We miss on Lambert, and it’s a weak haul. But I don’t hang that on Rudolph given what he inherited, etc…
Harry offered Lambert and we were his leader when Harry was here. You live Jones but said HH was doing awful at recruiting....weird
I just took some time and went over the current OL depth chart. That area is the least of my concerns regarding this football program.
There was a lot to not like about Kelly but he got a lot of really good nd players to come back for an extra year when they clearly were going to get drafted early, and they almost always improved their stock. Freeman was not successful here in year one, would love alt and fisher to come back and graduate( if they don’t after 3) but really need 1 (fisher) to return.
Cam hart was his really only good get back but that was forced due to his injury and surgery late in the season.

Are you not high on Tosh Baker or Charles Jagusah? Are you saying neither can contribute 15 months from now?
Jagusah yes. Baker no. Everytime he has pmayed he performed poorly and didnt look much better in spring. Plus you need more than 2 guys

The decisions of Alt and Fisher will be interesting to follow.
I know this. If Quenton Nelson can stay 4 seasons and then prosper in the NFL, so can everyone.
He was. But he didn't have the reps that Alt will have. And he was a guard. Tackles get drafted higher

You can say you believe he will be gone. But only the kid and his NFL dad definitively know.
Being realistic. And I guarantee the coaches are preparing as he will be gone next year. They will be prepared for that decision

Can’t we plug Wagner in at one of the T spots, and Jagusah in at the other?
I hope that Rocco really emerges. Would be nice to bank on Rocco and Billy S for the next 2 seasons anchoring the interior.

That’s a safe statement without knowing any friends…. Nd needs fisher back and have him swing to LT in 24
Thats who I think it will be. But they both have done nothing up to this point so it's still an unknown. And we still need more than 2 in case of injury
I think if you lose both fish and alt ya gotta go portal for a tackle … two completely green tackles should only happen if they are absolutely future early round draft picks like alt and fisher were/are
Harry left in Feb of this year, and we had one commitment when he left. I think you’re correct that we were leading for Lambert, but that’s a far cry from a commitment. Harry’s approach to recruiting, targeting a select few and limited in person recruiting trips, has been a source of criticism and angst for years; but then these quieted down as he successfully closed a high percentage of these Each year. Not so this year with his retirement. So yes, I think Harry left At a terrible time in terms of its impact on recruiting OL and I think Rudolph inherited a very Shallow lightly recruited targeted group, without the benefit of having established relationships, etc…. My point was that we should judge Rudolph’s recruiting based on the 25 class.
Everyone’s worried about rankings … meanwhile our best OL was not a highly ranked recruits … we’ve had several more highly rated linemen transfer out after getting beaten out. Let’s let Rudolph coach these guys for a season and see what we got. If it’s anything like Wisconsin we will get plenty of talented OL recruits.
